Phantom 3 Standard- Weird problem

That just freaked me out.

Wondering if you had noticed this?
"P3S => Fly-it or Fryware-it (Rod)"

I could post about 80 threads that I was involved with P3S and signal problems related to firmware.

My first post ever.

It found a Phantom Magnet.

In case you'd like to swap out the questionable flat gray cable for a new DJI OEM cable, they are available....usually in a set...called Part #81. A highly rated member here on Phantom Pilots Forum is an expert at drone repairs, and also offers parts for sale on occasion. He is @Droneted and has a listing on EBay for the Part #81. Best of all, it is a 'Genuine DJI OEM' part....not a knockoff. I'll add the info below.

I have a very good drone repair man near my area I’m going to him next week to replace some stuff as he has a spare for parts Ph3 standard

Sweet check the plug itself just to make sure they still Male female and the spike on board not lost his point ,and check where goes on board if still secure. Its possible that when the 8 wire plug got stretched a bit the antenna wires might have to,,can only move so far before they get pulled on,,that's where you might have to find out history on the how hard what ever impact happened, most probably a hard landing ,there's a little module screwed in the bottom of landing gear also but most likely it's up top

The grey and black wires make and female contacts are still their but the grey wires insulation is a bit broken but the cable is connected still to the strand in side

Since you can see some insulation damage it won't hurt to replace and have spares for future,
I was just bein tight referring to the grey flat wires bein ok,well they work BUT a new one keeps the terminals in line just incase the white plastic plug has a scuff where wire came back through and might not contact terminal on board properly when pushed back into plastic housing ..your drone buddy probably got parts yon need but spares r good

If I have damage to the 8 pin ribbon cable is there a possibility that’s affecting my Drone not linkingv

Still haven’t got it to pair

Since the drone pair light/button blinks during pairing, and the r/c beeps during pairing, there must be something preventing the successful pair sequence........as indicated on the list in post....#62 by Ian. Since a firmware upgrade/downgrade was attempted and failed, it may be corrupted, not allowing the drone and r/c to pair up.

I downloaded a new update from the DJI website for the P3S and it keeps failing

Have you been able to connect both the drone and the r/c to the GoApp, and determine which firmware each has installed? Some firmware versions are not compatible with each other...ie, new vs. old..etc.

That firmware 1.07.9 is from 11/9/2016
There have been 2 new 'official' versions since then, with a couple DJI "non-official" patch repair versions after that.
The other two are:
1.8.10 on 1/11/2017 and
1.9.20 on 6/23/2017.

I'm beginning to have indications why this drone was in storage a couple years. I'm wondering also if the r/c controller was ever dropped, or the drone had hard landings.......

If it were me, I believe I'd replace all visibly damaged components and wiring, and then try to link the two. Hopefully your 'drone guy' can help with that.

When I try updating using SD to 1.9.20 it fails the drone

I've been told that firmware updates need to be done in order.....BUT...DJI will NOT confirm this fact. I've asked numerous times. I think they just don't know.

Anyway, to confirm....the gimbal does its little 'dance' on aircraft power up and is still working.....but no camera feed to the GoApp?

Yes the gimbal does its little dance and beeps and the light on it goes green responds to movement and the DJI go app says “remote connected, connect aircraft”

Okay I try doing it in order but how would I know what my firmware on the drone is right now?

In the GoApp, on the top right of the camera view screen are three dots. Tap that to open general settings. Scroll to the bottom to access the 'about' section, and tap that. It should show the app version, aircraft and r/c firmware versions listed......if they are connected to the app correctly.
