HOW TO: Fix unstable Phantom 3 remote controller tablet mount

View attachment 21948
i got my part 45 the other day
its nice but i see nothing wrong with the stock one. the washer trick helps the best
the part was only $35 so why not. lol

Are you saying there is no difference in sturdiness of an iPad Air 2 on the stock plastic mount vs. the Inspire mount? If this is true, I will cancel my order.

i cant say fully. there is a reason the inspire got it and the phantom didnt.

i feel where it is loose and wobbly is the screw to the remote not that its plastic or aluminum. i can be wrong tho.

i would still keep the part you can always sell for more.

I would think it either is or is not better. I'm confused by your responses.

well if i say it isnt better this will go on forever. if i say it is better then will still on for ever.

its $38 its an upgrade. its aluminum. if its better its if not big deal only $38.

wait i take back all ive said.
ive been using my ipad mini 2. wasnt that bad with the plastic part. i just put an ipad air on it and its like a rock.

What device do you use in the mount?

Edit: Nevermind, you posted while I was posting. And thats what I was going to point out, you wont notice a difference on a small device. It's the larger devices where you notice the issue with the stock mount.

Received my Inspire mount yesterday and installed it and can verify what others are saying. If you're using a full-size tablet with Pilot, you should absolutely upgrade to the Inspire mount. The difference is absolutely HUGE...like night and day. The floppy support for my Air 2 with my stock mount is gone. This thing is absolutely rock solid. It's like feeding Viagra to your remote...works great!

Does that mean if it's not floppy again after 4 hours we should consult a physician?

So it remains erect and steady for only 4 hours ??

Edit: Ha, bbfpv beat me to it :)

I got my Inspire mount and I can say that it was indeed worth the $30 and more. It properly supports my iPad Air 2 and also has the harness hole higher up on the mount which balances it properly so when I let go, the controller doesn't flop straight down from the weight of the iPad. It stays upright. Extremely pleased here.

As stated, the metal mount is a lot better. The hole for a neck lanyard or whatever on the metal one is before the mounting screw on the controller. On the plastic mount the hole is after the mounting screw. The metal bracket balances the controller A LOT better.

The Inspire 1 device holder, is a must. Not only does it screw down tight and stay there, the hinge joint is super tight as well.
It just grabs my iPad Mini 2 and holds on... Worth it's cost.

Just got my metal mount from B&H. Night and day difference. Thanks for making this thread! I remember all the hate you got in the first replies too...

If the washer is good and the Inspire 1 holder is good, the both are better.

The Inspire 1 device holder doesn't require a washer. It's made to a higher standard, and should be used on all the DJI radios that have a tablet holder mounted on them.
I'm happy the part is available to switch out with the original.
I suppose, I'll be keeping the Phantom 3 device holder in case of an emergency... Likely will never need it though.

I installed mine today and it is like night and day!!! I use a full size iPad Air 2 and the thing doesn't wobble at all. Barely moves..Everything just locks down tight like it should. They should have sent this mount with all new Phantom 3's. I am SO GLAD I bought it. Well worth the money!
