With a WiFi only device, you could tether like that or cache the maps in DJI GO beforehand in a location where you can connect your mobile device to the Internet.do u just teacher to phone for maps?
I have a kindle and google play and it says installed but only lists my cell phone as a compatable deviceI bought a $33 kindle. Loaded google play and downloaded DJI Go. Works like a champ.

The Digiland is a great buy. It's a little slow to boot up, but works flawlessly with GO app and B4U fly app. Chrisif your in the usa I just got a digiland 7" with gps for $50 at bestbuy DigiLand - 7" - Tablet - 16GB works great but I found that the apps don't like google
You can install the current version of DJI GO if you sideload it like this.The only issue I had was I had to download an older version of the DJI Go app. It said on the Play Store it wasn't compatible so I found the previous version and installed it.
