Range problems

I have bought a P4P and i'm only getting maybe 500ft distance before the image either drops out or the Craft becomes DISCONNECTED and wants to RTB .. I've tried changing the range from auto to 5.8 but doesn't help much .
Wondering if anybody is having this problem.
DJI AFTER SALES CUSTOMER SERVICES not much help .. firmware updates ect ect ect ..

If so, did you try flying in a different location to rule out any possible interference in that flying location?

You seem to have one of the following issue:

1. Not pointing antennas correctly to AC
2. Flying area has heavy signal interference
3. You have modified RC with disconnected antennas
4. You do not have clear line of sight. Trees / buildings obstruct LOS
5. You are surrounded by metallic structures e.g. Sitting in car, .....
