On numerous occasions when I bring up the PhantomPilots website I find that the DJI website is also loaded in another page -- I did not ask for this and I do not want this. It's one thing to have ads, I get that the site needs to get money to operate, but when I have no choice that's going too far. I implore the mods to put an end to this tactic! Frankly, this tactic is not unlike what some porn sites do -- I don't think we should go there and operate that way.

I don't think the Phantompilots site has anything to do with what you're experiencing. What browser are you using?

I'm using Google Chrome and I only get the DJI website loaded in another tab, unprovoked, when I load in PhantomPilots. So, Chrome is no doubt playing a role, but why does this happen ONLY when I load PhantomPilots and no other website whatsoever?

Brian

I agree with @LarBear360 on this one.
I use Chrome exclusively and have not seen anything like you are saying.

This does not happen every time I load PhantomPilots, but every time this happens it happens when I load PhantomPilots.

Also, I do not get any other website loaded unprovoked.

I had the same problem using Microsoft Edge. Any URL I would open and the local newspaper page opened on another tab. I finally fixed it somewhere in the settings but now I only use Firefox.

This happens to be sometimes in Firefox. I've even seen it when clicking some of the buttons (bold, italic, etc.) to format the contents of my post.

Its a settings issue in Chrome.... I use Chrome exclusively and no such thing ever happens

How are you loading this site? Do you have a bookmark? typing it in? Check your STARTUP section on the Chrome Settings.

I guess it's possible the PhantomPilots are not responsible for this and that someone has infected there webpage in much the same way many porn sites do. I find it hard to imagine DJI being behind this and more likely a third-party is doing this and getting money for the forced referrals. Either way PhantomPilots needs to fix it.

I've asked someone here at PhantomPilots to look into this.

It is not something from us intentionally I can assure you. I use Mac OSX and have never seen this happen. I am guessing it's a Windows thing associated with the browser in some way.

Hey guys - I can confirm what you are seeing on chrome. I started looking into this a couple months when I first noticed it. I knew that we (PP) weren't doing it so I dug into the code and security of our site to ensure it wasn't something malicious.

Ultimately I found that there are a few "bad actors" running google AdSense ads and targeting our sites. They found a loophole to include some code in their ad (from adsense) that pops open a new tab when any link is clicked on that page. We've notified adsense each time we see it here. Apparently, this is actually an issue with the browser that shouldn't allow it and there is a new version of chrome in the works that should resolve this.

Meanwhile, we are also testing new ad partners as we believe google should be monitoring this more closely. My suggestion is to close that tab whenever you see it so we don't send any affiliate $$ their way.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Man this makes me happy -- all to often sites blow this off but Phantom pilots stepped up and looked into it and, well, faith restored! Thanks to the site and it's staff!

@clackey, along the same lines, you sometimes have ads that are attempting to install malware/viruses via JavaScript. Here's a screenshot showing what's displayed when those ads are loaded here:

Happen to me several times, i used firefox, suddenly it popup on the new tab, i thought it was just some kind of random ads that has been setup while you to click on the new thread

Strange. Haven't seen this one. Is this on PhantomPilots? We are testing a new ad partner here that I was hoping would resolve these issues. I will forward it to them.
