Lens Filter Kit: "Unboxing", install and review...

Re: Lens Filter Kit:

Just remember not to use the polarizer if you're shooting panoramas that will be stitched - you'll ruin the sky.
This "uneven blue sky darkening" issue will probably happen anyway even with a single shot, due to our ultra-wide-angle lens. Most polarizers darken about a 90° swath of the sky - and the P2V camera captures way more than that, about 140°.

Still waiting for my Lens Filter kit, so I can test this. And of course, I'm also waiting for blue skies....

I love all the information this thread has brought out - keep it going! It's all about testing and experimenting with what does and doesn't work. For the price of the kit and a couple of filters I think it's certainly worth having a play with. I just can't see any rain-free skies, let alone blue ones, to have a play with in the near future. :(

To get familiar using a pol filter, practicing with ordinary camera (phone camera) could speed up learning how the filter affects to the image. Just keep the filter in front of the lens in different positions, different lighting conditions and study the resulting images. Look at sky, water, grass, leaves, glass surface, shiny cars...

Says it all up there, really...

One or two small things to look out for, otherwise very nice! Fans will already be aware of the hairy arms that I keep forgetting to get out of the way of the camera, and the tendency for alcohol to appear in my videos... Nice drop of red from Puglia this evening. ;-)

Good video.

Len filter ordered as well as these - only set I could find on Amazon tbh...

Has anyone located these in the US?

for everyone looking for the dji filter kits which appear to be currently sold out- check out these posts at facebook- instant message Peter Ellin or chat on the posts (he appears to to have plenty in stock) - I got my dji filter kit from him yesterday shipped (within US) for only $18.95 - probably a little more to ship overseas https://m.facebook.com/peter.ellin/albu ... 826070423/ or here- https://www.facebook.com/groups/2493907 ... 535802809/

also got this 5 piece filter kit for only $12.50 shipped! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003QQYFLA/ref ... 25410_item

also- compared the dronexpert gimbal and H3-2d gimbals- rotorpixel has confirmed the rotorpixel vision gimbal's motors will be strong enough to take the added weight of the filter kit/added filters (compared to the h3-2D which has known to burn out motors with the added filter weight on a gopro at least) and also the rotorpixel gimbal is designed so that the dji filter kit will still attach effectively (unlike the dronexpert one)!

anyone know if the stock p2v 1 axis gimbal motor is powerful enough to take the added weight of the dji filter kit and filter itself..? I heard that the H3-2D gimbal's (with gopro attached) motors have known to burn out with the added weight of a filter added to the gopro and wondered what the possibilities are with the stock vision camera/1 axis camera motor when the dji filter kit and filter itself is added?

Can't find them in the US? No surprise because DJI sent only two per vendor. DJI is a piece of shite company's. US Buyer Beware, DJI is a dead company, just wait and see.

Might be dead in the US ... but is going great guns in Oceania and Asia.

Was able to remove the first screw. The second screw just let the 1.5 hex just spin. Looks like it was buggered up when it was installed. Any ideas for removing it?

Did you use the supplied hex wrench? Mine was really bad. If you haven't yet, try with something a little more regular in shape. If you have tried something else then I can't think of how to get that one out, it's very recessed. :( Technically it's a manufacturing fault, so if you want to return the whole thing to swap for a new one...?!

Here you go, 6 and a half quid. It's not super high quality but the hex bits are nice and crisp and have a good length for the deeper recessed screws on the Vision:

Nice and small to tuck away in the flight case, too.

Good find, Pull_Up :). Nice quality at a good price.

I have got some really good quality hex drivers which date back to my helicopter building days (models !) but unfortunately they are on the boat which is 300 miles away. Anyway, they should be replaced as soon as there is any sign of wear which you can afford to do with these Vktech ones.

Pull_Up, have you had a chance to see how good the cpl is in the Polaroid kit ? I ask because I have just read a review that really criticises it. It maybe that your kit is different so if you are happy with yours could you please post the link to where you got it ?

Here is the review I read : http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/39264527

the uv filters I got I think are better value- get 5 pieces and more appropriate filters- like an ND filter (great for reducing jello effect if any apparent)- as well UV and polarizing filter (no flourscent filters included which are unnecessary for flying the p2v outdoors)-

Specs-
Filter kit includes UV, circular polarizer, neutral density filters, lens cap, lens cap keeper and filter case
High-quality glass optics
Designed for digital and analog SLR cameras and video cameras
Filter thread: 46mm
Easy screw-on attachment

got a good customer review also here- http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Bo ... iews.html- though better price at the amazon link I shared- again only $12.50 shipped (if in the US at least)-here- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003QQYFLA/ref ... 25410_item

edit- I see you're in the UK but may be able to find a good deal with same model there too - here's one kit at ebay.co.uk for http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2013-Bower-VF ... 0734805188 for £18.07 or ship from US..
