Inspire tablet holder/P3S controller

I've bought a dji inspire tablet holder and want to mount it onto a Phantom 3 controller. Question is can I drill a hole into the front face to take the pin without hitting any vital parts. Or do I have to split controller. I assume pin just sits there doesn't seem to be any way to lock it in as pin isn't threaded to take nut. I've read info on this mount but can't quiet understand it, must be thick !
