[emoji651]️[emoji651]️[emoji651]️[emoji651]️[emoji651]️[emoji651]️ that's the Phantom 3 standard remote

All that no connection Internet connection is like a fail safe to allow people to know if they are connected to Internet or if they are disconnected has nothing to do with Wi-Fi option on your drone just different. Instead of transmitting you are receiving images one way. There needs to be a loop of
data going out and coming back to complete Wi-Fi confirmation Internet connect for regular Wi-Fi computer at homes Internet. No wi-Fi Internet connection needed controller provides own Wi-Fi for video capture.

That is definitely NOT a Standard controller .... that is more like the Advanced / Pro version.

Nigel
The P34K has this controller. Similar to the Advanced and Pro. And I wouldnt update firmware until you feel comfortable with starting up and connecting your P3. Read the manual, then read again, and keep it for reference.

So ok all u have to do is download DJI GO app turn on app, load camera option to view black screen. While control is on and DJI go app it on with camera view.back out without closing DJI app(keep app running don't close).
Then go to your Wi-Fi option on your phone and look for (phantom 3 ) option under Wi-Fi and click. Well that's great now you're connect. but no Wi-Fi that is what it will say, you are now connect. Click once then click and hold second time for two seconds to three Second on battery while securely in quad copter. Will take up to A minute to warm up quad copter. After warm up quad copter will do A quick 15 to 20 second update of GPS positioning of home take of point then after that u should be able to fly.
But u will have to update before u can fly. If there is an available update you will have to update before the quad copter will allow you to fly. Update includes new features and any new mapping GPS features or more...

I am confused why you talk about updates when all it is - he is confused about internet connection or not. And we know that late version Android gives this No Internet Warning by default and has nothing to do with DJI gear at all ...

????????? You sure ?

It actually has nothing to do with DJI or Failsafe at all .... it is purely that Android expects to see Internet Connection when a WiFi signal is connected. When it doesn't see Internet - it gives a warning. Simple.

Nigel

From an technical pov the no internet is normal. The aircraft will get GPS and the phone will get data or you may used cached data. The only reason for the wifi is to connect the remote to the aircraft.

It is worth noting the standard and advance/pro have different transmission methods and very differing remote setups.

Now you have got in and are having issue of weak signal/ blank picture I would say one of a few things without being a drone expert:
1. Faulty drone/RC
2. Firmware
3. Incompatible device (check with dji whether device supports the app)

Hope you get sorted :)

Definition of fail–safe
1
: incorporating some feature for automatically counteracting the effect of an anticipated possible source of failure
2
: being or relating to a safeguard that prevents continuing on a bombing mission according to a preconceived plan
3
: having no chance of failure : infallibly problem-free

Oh and possibly if you are indoors in a very urban environment with lots of interference...

The controller it on 2.4 gigahertz Signal Control movement.

You say android but that is not the only platform the app it on.

Skizered .... please ....

2.4Ghz is for Telemetry and Video and is TWO-WAY ....

5.8Ghz is Control Signal and ONE-WAY only.

The APP transmits via WiFi 2.4ghz to the controller which then routes to aircraft ... flight commands via 5.8 and video / telemetry related via 2.4. While also receiving back 2.4ghz telemetry and video to be retransmitted to APP. The APP does not have any direct connection to Aircraft.

The OP is posting on the Standard forum - so it is reasonable to expect that he has the 2.4 and 5.8ghz setup.

Failsafe ONLY acts on loss of CONTROL signal or Battery level or triggered by pilot.

Nigel

Why would you want to run 2.4 and 5.8 together on the same system? You would have interfered in the video and signals with glitchy video

If somebody would be running a drone with a 5.8ghz or using a 5.8 transmitter you would get Signal interference from video depending on how close it was to u or the drone.

Like in the picture ur in u should know this. if u fly with others or around city's with cell tower or high power lines and want video that does not collide with others or friends with same signals so u don't get a fly away or crash by lost or corrupted signal.

I give up ..... Skizered .... you need to read up properly on how the Standard works.

Actually lets try again....

The standard has two frequency systems. First just take the Aircraft and Controller :

5.8Ghz which is purely Flight Command Control. It has no control over anything else. It is a one-way signal also from Controller to Aircraft. This gives you the left right fwd back up down, take-off and landing modes.

2.4Ghz is for Telemetry and Video and is TWO way communication.

The controller handles both frequencies. The 5.8Ghz is via the external stick antenna in centre top and the 2.4Ghz is via the two plate antenna inside the controller case.

When these two are communicating, the AIrcraft receives all flight directions on the 5.8Ghz. At same time both Controller and Aircraft are relaying telemetry and video data between each other. Mostly as appreciated will be Aircraft TO Controller telling battery level / height / speed / position etc etc.
If we introduce follow me / orbit etc. - then the communication from Controller to Aircraft on 2.4Ghz increases accordingly because of the GPS data needed from pilots position but this brings in Display units capability ....

Now add in Display and APP.

The App communicates ONLY with the Controller via 2.4Ghz. It does not communicate direct to Aircraft, it just has not the WiFi signal strength needed to do it.

Therefore the APP gives all commands / instructions you tap on screen to the Controller via 2.4Ghz WiFi ... The Controller then filters each to respective frequency path. Camera / Video / Telemetry goes via 2.4Ghz two ways, the flight commands one way via 5.8Ghz to Aircraft.

Skizered - you say that if what I say is true - then we would have interference and glitchy video ..... seems strange that millions of installations around factorys, hospitals and airports etc. all work quite happily regardless of how many connected and that 2.4 AND 5.8GHz are both commonly WiFi use in such establishments at same time.

Suggest you read Manual pages 50 and 51 .... clearly stating WiFi at 2.4Ghz and Remote Controller at 5.8Ghz

Plus of course DJI own webpage :

Phantom 3 Standard - Specs, FAQ, manual, video tutorials and DJI GO - DJI

Think it time you quietly slink away and get some reading done ... and stop making a fool of yourself. Now I'm being nice.

Nigel

I currently bought a Phantom 3 Standard.. Tried to sync remote to phone using Wifi.. Says Internet is unavailable. There is no spot on Remote to connect usb cable to phone. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
