Battery 1: old....Well here is the deal, I am a teacher and we bought Phantom 3A drones and they sat on the shelf for like 3 years....long story, the battery will not charge not sure if it is dead?

Battery 2: bought new on Amazon a few weeks agon and never flown with. I think it is hibernating? The red LED on the power button is solid and the tope green LED that is furthest from the power button is blinking.

Anyone have a clue? I am stuck at home and would like to try and learn this drone for class next year.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum sorry for your troubles sometimes even with new batteries if they get down to 1 light they will not charge if you bought it new from amazon return it and get another one have had to do it a couple times myself with brand new ones also I only use OEM for batteries and propellers to help keep from having accidents

Got a multimeter to check voltage, its possible some time on the charger might revive it but keep eyes on it,,if nothing happens within couple hours I'd say its shot,,be good science lesson to puncture it and watch it smoke and burn,,that will get all your students attention, but have bucket of sand close,,this last resort

May I ask a P3P Controller Battery question. I'm bringing out my hibernated Phantom from the winters sleep. The 4 Drone batteries began to re-charge after being nudged (momentary power on) while being hooked to the charger, all's well, 4 fully charged batteries.

Now my problem, the Controller does not turn on at all. It only shows a rapidly blinking left white light with the charger hooked up. Any nudging ideas to get this started? Thanks, Capitan Bill

Battery Hibernation mode:

It is important NOT to alter the sequence:

1. Switch on battery - ignore what happens to lights etc.
2. LEAVE IT ALONE for at least 5 minutes.
3. Do NOT touch power button - plug into DJI charger
4. LEAVE IT ALONE.. it may be hours before it wakes up ... DON'T TOUCH IT !

You need a DJI charger for this - it's the only time a specific charger is required in fact ... you cannot use any 3rd party charger.

The secret is to NOT touch the power button after point 1), if you do, you need to put the battery away for a while, then start again.

Try the method I mentioned in my post above (#9).

My P3P RC-battery drained to almost zero withing about 8 weeks without turning on the RC. So I thought it was time to replace it, but NO luck finding a replacement battery.
I took it out. It's a 2s/6000mAh battery with 'build-in' (attached) BMS.
Finding a 2s battery that fits the RC and a suitable BMS was not that hard although half the capacity of the original, but that's no problem for me..
In the meantime I charged the original battery with a standard regulated 9V power supply.
Then I observed (by messuring it's voltage) that this original battery, after more than 8 weeks still had almost 100% capacity. Which means it does NOT drain while disconnected from the RC's PCB.
My conclusion/solution:
I'm going to mount a physical 2-pole On/Off switch in the RC between the battery and the PCB.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT ALTER THE SEQUENCE OF THESE STEPS!
  1. Switch on battery – one quick press followed by a press that lasts 4 seconds. Don’t expect to see any lights, just do this step.
  2. LEAVE IT ALONE for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Do NOT touch power button on battery – plug it into your DJI charger.
  4. LEAVE IT ALONE… it may be hours before it wakes up. DON’T TOUCH IT!

You need your DJI charger for this. The secret is to NOT touch the power button after point 1. If you do, you’ll have to put the battery away for a few hours and then start all over again.

YOU'RE KIDDING....... (see post #9).

Funny how my old post on getting out of Hibernation seems to get cut and pasted by people .....

No worries - if it works - great ..

But would appreciate it being linked back to my post rather than cut and pasted !!

Here's the full TXT file of battery use as well to go with it ...

Ciao Nigel. Though it was overlooked by subsequent posters in this thread, in post 4 above I linked to your hibernation post as I often do. Question for you though. That linked post (from Feb 2020) also has attached to it your battery summary, though a different version than what you posted here today. Should I no longer link to the version in that Feb 2020 post?

Hi the summary is still basically same ... I just reformat / add odd bits ... so no reason to change.

I've cleaned it up a bit ... added Hibernation to this one attached here now ...

I was a little too quick to post earlier ... later going back - I see that you linked to my old post .... I should have edited to acknowledge.

Cheers ...

To all - Please Stay Safe and Stay Healthy ...

Aside from Solent's info (good) if the battery has become extremely discharged there is something on the battery control board that gets switched off or to open circuit. It can't be switched on again with out some 'specialised' equipment, see 0r10nV 's posts in There is also a dead P3 battery video on youtube which mentions something similar in one of the replies but sorry I didn't bookmark the page so you'd have to plough through the comments including all the replies. I recollect the 'replier' had an eastern european looking name and the post was of reasonable length so it might not be too hard to spot

Hallo Solent life, I have a little issue w my P3P. One of the DJI batteries seems to generate the warning "Ultra sonic systems error land immediately", in yellow script at the top of my screen. A little disconcerting when 1500 metres out over the sea.
The first time it occurred l screamed silently to myself, climbed to 90 metres & brought the AC home. No issues until l used the same battery again.
I have four DJI batteries. Some body mentioned to make sure they all have the same software on & that it is updated like the drone & R/C unit. From what I can see, the drone has one firmware no & date, the R/C has a completely different one.
So far I had no idea that the batteries have their own little updatable software & having had one lengthy & scary update/upgrade with my drone I am loath to go into all that again.( took me a month )
I would appreciate the benefit of your experience if you can gently tell this old f--t what I might do to resolve this predicament. Thank you for reading this verbose note, best wishes to you, yours faithfully Theo. 2020-04-27

maybe put the same fw file you have on ur ac on the sd card and then put in the battery you didnt update when u put the fw on ur ac. batteries are updated automagically when put in the ac.
