Phantom 3 malfunction at 300ft. Loud pop and came spirilling down and hit hard!

RIP.. probably broke a prop but damage too severe for repairs. If you still have good P3 batteries, it's worth replacing fairly cheaply. Otherwise, step up to something more modern. GL

Wow... now that you mentioned it, i do believe that's when it happened. Went straight up to 300ft went forward a few feet... then back and bam!...like something shot it. It was the first flight this year. Going up i got a warning it was conserving power but the battery was at 97% so i didn't know what to make of it... but could tell it wasn't using full power.

Wow... now that you mentioned it, i do believe that's when it happened. Went straight up to 300ft went forward a few feet... then back and bam!...like something shot it. It was the first flight this year. Going up i got a warning it was conserving power but the battery was at 97% so i didn't know what to make of it... but could tell it wasn't using full power.

Your battery wasn't in good health at the start of the flight.
The battery was showing 95% at startup.
But at 33 seconds with just gentle climbing, the the cell voltage had crashed to 3.4
The cell voltages were also unbalanced with one cell about 0.25 volts higher than the others.
From 40 seconds you climbed at full throttle.
There were a few Propulsion output is limited to ensure the health of the battery messages on the way up.
At 48 seconds you eased up and stopped climbing at 50 seconds, with the battery cell voltages about to drop into critically low voltage level.
You climbed further in stages with short pauses, reaching 335 feet and started to fly forward.
At 1:30.1 things came undone with the drone losing height as it rolled and tumbled to the ground.
It appears that the drone lost either a prop or motor.
The Motor is blocked message, suggest that it might have been the motor.

The battery was the reason it wasn't using full power, but that had nothing to do with the drone tumbling out of the sky.

only thing that would cause a motor obstruction is a bird strike, or the motor itself suffered an issue i see not enough force ESC error showing in the log so that could be a reason, i also see some compass errors with magnetic field interference message, this wouldnt cause the crash but it makes me think that something on the mainboard wasnt in good shape.

Am new to all this... it was my first drone. Purchased it 3yrs ago and got a fair amount of flight from it. Not sure what to get next but one things for sure... there's no shortage of choices!

All of those errors you mention came after the damage was done and the drone was tumbling to earth.
They had nothing to do with the problem that stopped the drone.

If it was a bird I'm inclined to think it was a hummer... there are several of them nesting close by and they're very territorial i have noticed.
