Flying non GPS

Going to be flying in some non-gps areas for the first time. Any advice other then not to crash? Best settings?

Without GPS you will have no horizontal position holding - it will be like driving with no brakes.
Practise out in the open first to get the hang of it and be gentle on the sticks.

Be careful with wind correction: check wind speed/direction, dont get your eyes away from the drone for too long and careful around obstacles. Other than that... were exactly are you flying? I got an Ambient Weather WM-3 from Amazon to measure wind speed at surface for $32, the wm-2 does the same and it's cheaper.

Wrong - there is no connection between cell service and GPS satellite reception
They are completely independent and you don't need cell service to fly happily.

No view of the sky = no GPS reception.
So to go back to your original post ...
When you said you were going to a non-GPS area, did you mean a non-cell service area?

The G in GPS stands for Global. You'lll have to go a long way to find somewhere not covered by GPS satellites (as long as you can see the sky).

It's best to practice with a $40 Proto X nano quad. Hubsan makes a nice one too. When you can fly one of those for five minutes indoors without crashing, you'll have a better chance of success with your $1000+ flycam.

It is Global like Meta4 said, with a very few exceptions like Polar regions (Glonass is expanding to cover it by 2020, not sure if Navstar already covers). Of course anything physical between the drone and the satellites may block the radio signals exchange, including buildings (indoor), bridges etc.
