I flew into a dock pole the other day. The Phantom 4 flipped over and crashed right on the edge of the dock. The battery flew out of the dock and landed in about 6 inches of water.
I remembered reading that the lithium ion battery could end up catching fire, so I left it on the rocks that formed the sea wall.

24 hours later, the battery started smoking and caught fire. I'm glad I didn't take it in the house!

I understand. I tapped a tree branch about 8 months ago and the bird dropped into a river. We spent about 1/2 hour wading for it and found it. Once held above the water, it started burning.

Two of the chips on a quad of the main board were burned. The battery is basically dead, having smoked as well.
