That is because it is so common, no one noticed.

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

I have a couple things to add:

1) ( a RAOK ( Random act of kindness )or Thank you ) forum or area
( I have received ( NEEDED ) parts for free here, as I have also sent parts for free,
But unfortunately there is nowhere to extend my thanks and appreciation, for other
Members to view! This will also let people know who is legit, and trustworthy, when trades
Happen )

2) Trade forum ( self explanatory )!

I would also like to chime on prop guards,
Sorry I'm late. I use them ( always ) when filming
Close to people ( beach, basketball game, football, ect )
But I NEVER use them when I'm just flying for fun....
I would never want my bird to decide to plow into someone
Without guards on, they may still get hurt, but I'm sure a lot less
Damage than without! But I prefer them OFF!

Great post A+ to the author, and to several good additions along the way!
Take care, Fly safe!

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

Why should it matter to any of you (or me) what another person does with THEIR Phantom? They paid for it and are welcome to do with it whatever they choose up to and including whiping their butt with it. It has nothing at all to do with me.
I think sometimes people have little else to do in life besides ridicule others to feel better about their own shortcomings.

Thanks for reviving this topic. In order for this to work, Mods need to buy in to the idea. I see misposted topics all the time, the most frequent occurrence being General topics posted in specific Phantom model categories.

The Moderators do a great job here, but I'd like to ask them to step it up a little.

Also please consider some of the ideas listed here. Information overload and duplication will make this site a quagmire. I hope the Mods are considering the following:

  • - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Page
    - Terminology Page for acronyms, abbreviations, etc.
    - Wiki page
    - Aftermarket Product Reviews Page

It would be so valuable to hear some Mods to weigh on this.

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

Common Acronyms are in stickies .
Not Wiki but this is in stickies also.. Alternative Search Method That Works Very Well ..and it does work very well .
A Aftermarket Product Reviews Page would be nice but I don't think the mods have anything to do with making these things only Adam .
There's a lot of info in the stickies but new folks don't know to look there .
Maybe a Tutorial you have to read when you join here would help !

Bumpity Bump...

Hey Clipper707, like I've said over and over... Great thread. :D

So, back to your points, with my additions.

1 - Search before posting - Someone may have had the same idea, question or news article before. Let’s try and avoid duplicate postings. Let's try and avoid duplicate postings.
Looking at "Important Stickies" may answer your question.
I like using this: https://www.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx ... jku2ysgyhi

2 - Post in the appropriate forum - For example, the story about the White House lawn drone does not belong to the “DJI Phantom (The Original)” forum as much as it belongs to the General Discussion or News forums.
If you don't know where it goes, try asking in Off Topic or General Discussion.

3 - Use a proper title. Don't Clickbait - Please don’t make readers have to click open your thread to see what it’s about. “You Gotta See This” doesn’t tell me anything and isn’t a searchable title. Even worse, sometimes I click and see nothing in the initial post except a link, presumably to a drone video but could be South American gay penguin porn for all I know. Again, please tell us what we’re clicking on before we click.
"Hey Look At this" is NOT cool. I've probably done it, but now I'm older and wiser, maybe even smarter.

4 - Punctuate - sometimes its difficult were not all native speakers i get that i have no idea what someones trying to say all the sentences run together its frustrating it happens try please because it helps everyone just a little bit of effort you know what i mean
Yep, if you can, please do. If you can't, maybe just add a period and hit the enter key more often. We're here to read.

5 -Stay on topic. Don’t hijack threads. - If an OP is asking a question about a specific propguard quick-release, maybe it’s not the right thread to debate the evils/virtues of propguards in general.
Yep, again. STAY FOCUSED Sorry Clipper, that's hard to do. I'll try to do better. I hope others will too.

6 - Consider having a profile and signature. - You may have reasons for not wanting to share that information and we should respect that, but it's nice to know where folks are from and what they're flying.
This is important so we can offer better advice. Folks in the Himalayas may post the same question differently than folks from Peru. Diversity is good, Misunderstanding is bad.

AND MY OWN ADDITION TO YOUR SUGGESTIONS:
7. - Trolls should be ignored until that wonderful day when they are banned. :D

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

Looks good WY. Addition to No. - 4 - Punctuate
In typing 101, a single i is always a capital letter. "I" not "i"
.
OK, nit-pickin' over.

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

I usually try searching the site first, but it is so fragmented and incomplete that I usually have to restart the topic. Fix that and I would be more than happy to comply.

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

I agree. Some searches bring up hijacked threads with a lot of old useless garbage.

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

Some threads start out talking about a motor issue and end up about a cat .

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

Exactly, very frustrating. You almost have the answer you were looking for then they do a 180 and start talking about something entirely off subject, reminds me too much of my wife!

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

Focus ladies, c'mon now, you can do it. :D

Have any good suggestions to add?

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

It would be an effort on someone's part, but could the affected thread(s), to a solution(s) be regenerated to cut out all the fluff or side talk....? And then locked and/or stickied. It would make the answers to the Noobs that much easier to find.

As an example, the GPS Connector Fix thread...several solutions were provided but lost within the 60 some odd pages. I feel like I'm reading an RCgroups forum thread.

Since we have multiple version of Phantoms, it would be helpful to specify the version(s) a solution was applicable to. Like reading at Inspire 1 forum, the two version of the CF tubes used on the arms. FWIW, what CF tube provided will be a factor down the road..... DJi makes changes on the fly, think about it, we've had three designated versions of the P2V+ over the last year. How many untold changes from within each version as they rolled out. Within three months there will be three variation of the Inspire1 I imagine.

That is because cats are more interesting than motors.

Just having fun with your comment.
I do agree with you that at times we do get carried away with some of the posting. I'll try to be more sophisticated and stiff(boring)in the future.....

Re: 6 constructive things we can do to make this forum bette

I'm disappointed Adam or any Mods haven't weighed in on this.

Anyway, here's a rewrite of the suggestions. Thanks for your input, sorry for any omissions, and let's continue to refine these. Let me know what you think.

1 - Be positive; add to the conversation. - Be polite. Share your knowledge and your sense of humor. Treat others better than you expect to be treated yourself. This forum is a community.

2 - Search before posting - Someone may have had the same idea, question or news article before. Let’s try and avoid duplicate postings. Let's try and avoid duplicate postings. Looking at "Important Stickies" may answer your question.
There are several tools for searching. Here's a good one: https://www.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx ... jku2ysgyhi

3 - Post in the appropriate forum - For example, the story about the White House lawn drone does not belong to the “DJI Phantom (The Original)” forum as much as it belongs to the General Discussion or News forums. If you don't know where it goes, try asking in Off Topic or General Discussion.

4 - Punctuate - sometimes its difficult were not all native speakers i get that i have no idea what someones trying to say all the sentences run together its frustrating it happens try please because it helps everyone just a little bit of effort you know what i mean

Adding periods and hitting the enter key more often will do wonders for a post. Stop and reread your post before hitting "submit." We're here to read.

5 - Stay on topic. Don’t hijack threads. - If an OP is asking a question about a specific propguard quick-release, maybe it’s not the right thread to debate the evils/virtues of propguards in general.

6 - Consider having a profile and signature. - You may have reasons for not wanting to share that information and we should respect that, but it's nice to know where folks are from and what they're flying. 7 - Trolls should be ignored. - Sometimes it's difficult, but trolls, by definition, are baiting you to respond. If you must reply, don't sink to their level. Refer to suggestion #1.
