I was gifted a DJI Phantom 4 by a drone pilot- and it is my first drone.
I want to take it out to practice in a large, drone-friendly field, however, it does not seem to allow me to use a USB C cable to connect it to my phone, or allow me ot use a lightning > usb C adapter for my phone.

Sorry if I have confused myself and made this more complicated than necessary. I would like to know if there is a way I can connect it to my iphone via cable.
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the Forum.

You should be able to connect a good USB < USB-C cable from your phone to the remote controller. Use a good quality data transfer cable.....not a cheap charging cable.

Also, check out 'Phantomhelp.com' by msinger, an approved vendor here on PhantomPilots. There you will find boatloads of information. Just be sure to select the correct drone model from the drop down menu. The official DJI Phantom 4 owners manual is also available for more information.

Thank you! Do you know if there's any good data ones at officeworks or similar? Everywhere online says its not compatible with data transfer despite having it listed as data cable.

DJI Go is the app, the fly app is for the mini series etc, as for your iphone its hit and miss if they work, i have an ipad with USB C and i cant get it to see my p3a quad, yet my android phones all work fine.

as for an adapter, these have always been a fail point, it has to be the correct USB A to ...... whatever your phone has as a socket

You'll need a USB-C to USB cable that supports data transfer (like this cable).

Also, make sure you're only trying to use DJI GO 4. DJI Fly is not compatible with the Phantom 4.
