If there are trees or houses in the way, it's blocking the Signal. Make sure to try again in an open field.

If it's the same in an open field with no interference (Power lines or huge metal things), open up the transmitter and make sure the center mast is properly plugged into the bottom lead marked '5.8Ghz' on it.

Someone reported as that being an issue with theirs.

BE CAREFUL THOuGH!!

Thanks for the help. I've flown in and many different places and it's always the same range. I am mainly flying over lake Elsinore. It's pretty wide-open.

I took it back to RC depot today. They flew it and said yes there is something wrong and I had to call DJI. I said is less than a week though just keep my money back and I'll buy another one somewhere else and you can do it DJI.they would not trade it or give me my money back.

Pretty much all RC Stores will not give you refund on Quads/Drones after you fly them..
Sad, but true. In my area at least.
