This setup will get 3 mile easy in optimal conditons/environment it's also great for boosting your signal in those areas with too much interference! I will list the parts and links along with detailed instructions so you can purchase this too if you wish! The best part is you don't have to buy it all at once if you're a little strapped for cash. So anyways...

First you will need to get argtek, you could use itlite dbs mod too but I prefer the no holes method.
https://www.amazon.com/BlueProton-P...031&sr=8-2&keywords=argtek+phantom+3+standard

This is the 5.8ghz booster for the center antenna.
https://www.amazon.com/Sunhans-Wifi...qid=1514416098&sr=8-1&keywords=5.8ghz+sunhans

These are the 2.4ghz boosters for the side antennas, there's some controversy on whether or not you need 2 but that's what I used.

Now you will need something to attach it to the argtek mounting rail, unfortunatley they only come in a 2 pack so buy 2.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XZSCCT6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ok, so now your boosters are attached to the mounting rail and the antennas are connected so the next thing is this.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016M46E16/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then you will need these little guys to connect the dc cord to the boosters.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UJ9AO4O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you're asking yourself "how am I going to power this bad boy" here's your solution.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ME3ZH7C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ok so now you need this adapter to make the cord compatible with the power source.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B1JLN28/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And last but not least this to secure the power source to the RC.

There it is folks, I hope you enjoy!

The battery? It takes close to 3 hours to fully charge but it last at least 5 controller charges + charging a tablet.

An additional $302.08 to fly it farther than you can see it and hope it will come back. Just buy the better drone to begin with and don't waste money/effort on something not worth it.

Some people can't think "out side the box", they have to buy a box that thinks for them.⬆️ Great mod! Thats way cooler looking than the stock controller that comes with any "more expensive"⬆️drone.

No, thinking outside the box is one thing. Being dangerous and careless is something completely different. This is completely different. And then on top of it, you are wasting resources to do what one can already do for less money.

Sometimes "thinking outside of the box" is a rather foolish thing to do when it is all said and done.

Let me tell you why this mod is awesome. (I run almost the same thing, just different battery and the itelite antenna).
If you lose your bird, replaceme is cheap (assuming you have the P3S). The bulk of your money spent is in your hands. Definitely cheaper than replacing a P3A/P or Mavic bird.

Oh yea, you can fly as far as your battery let’s you and you have a signal strong enough to maintain signal through some trees and houses. Although clear LOS is preferred.

I did a shade over 4 miles out and 4 miles back, landed with about 12% battery. In surburban conditions.

I’ve been tempted to buy a new setup, but my modified P3S is just about perfect for me. Form factor of the mavic is a nice thing though.

I have gotten 3+ with a similar setup, using a itelite panel antenna. It was a lot of fun to build and even more fun to fly.
Part of the hobby is the modding which is what drew me to it in the first place. Sure anyone could spend more money and get a P4 with better distance out of the box but there is no magic with that.
The ability to make the device outperform it's original design is thrilling and well worth it if you choose to try.
Don't criticize people about how to spend their money, it makes you sound like a total *******.

Ok, so it's saftey your concerned with. Why didnt you say so TO START WITH? Sounded like you were worried more about money and time consumption in your post and by the way he never said he tested this mod around any population. So saftey is not an issue here yet. Oh yeah, some will say your little Sesame Street pic was a wasted resource. He made his drone "better" with thought and innovation and tried to share with others which helps spark new ideas and creativity. Hey, it doesn't matter how much "better" the drone is. Line of sight is the same. He actually made his P3s safer by boosting signal to help prevent interference! The most you can is say w.t.f.?

Very nice and neat job you did putting that all together and having such great success with it lancognito!

I have copied all your info regarding the setup and for me having that extra strength regarding my signal is what I am looking for (don't have the nerve to fly long distance - ha).

Good for you for taking the time to write up and post all that information and sharing it for those interested.

A huge part of this hobby is the "tinkering" aspect - modding and having success doing so, is self fulfilling - sharing that success is generous.

I agree with you on that Whitestar and thanks to the poster on this, I am hoping to attain the same with boosting my signal when flying over and around treed areas where I live.
Especially at this time of year when the leaves are all gone - I get a lot of lost signal flashes where I fly and I now think this will be the answer to ending all that.

As is said "to each their own" - Ignore the negative comments - not worth responding to - silence can be deafening!.

Safe flying, filming and...........modding everyone. Happy New Year and all the very best for 2018.

Looks great and sure works well. I built one for my ps3pro and advanced same way. Only thing bad about ur amp mounting is that the sma antenna connectors will not support ur antennas well. Might brake the sma double connectors easy. I made a mounting bracket for my amps to mount to so the weight of the amps was not supported by the antenna connectors. Ur idea is a hreat addition though. Makes flying safer in a conjested wifi area and through trees. Great job and have fun trying new things.

Hey Randy, I was thinking the same thing as to a weakness/stress at that point and thought maybe some kind of support-bracket.

Any chance you can post a photo of your support bracket? If not, no biggie just pleased to read here you mentioned pretty well what I was thinking on.

I haven't done this yet (set up) - however your mention of safer flying (signal strength) with this confirms for me this is the way to go.

Thanks.
