I like that so much, I am engineering a similar mount-set.Well, I finally got my cable and had to laugh at the absurdity of it all when it was installed.

What I thought was interesting and it may simply be a disadvantage of omni's in my congested environment. I did two test flights: one with the DBS antenna w/3w sunhans and one with the omni's w/rf linx. Distance-wise they flew roughly the same, however the omni's had much more intermittent signal loss during the flight. It was much blurrier/lower quality for most of the flight when at approximately 4000'.
I'll probably have to test in other areas, but right now I'm going to fix my mistake of ordering LMR-400 to the remote. Wow, that's not nearly as flexible as I was expecting and it takes up most of the interior of my small car. haha, whoops!
One possible fix is doing this. Won't fix the 400's rigidness, but re-routes the direction it goes in.Well, I finally got my cable and had to laugh at the absurdity of it all when it was installed.

I being unhappy with my L-Com's factory coax (R-195) decided to "Modify" the base mount connector...)
Center lead soldered to N connecter. Braid/clamped to magnet plateThanks for sharing. I have been wondering how to safely take off the connector without damaging/drilling it off to bits. How did you get yours out? I tried pushing it out from inside ...no luck.

Requires de-solder center lead, pry magnet base clamping tab from cable end.Center lead soldered to N connecter. Braid/clamped to magnet plate
This is the part I was referring to:Requires de-solder center lead, pry magnet base clamping tab from cable end.
Access set screw through coax hole.

Thought about what you said of this issue. So I think I'll order these to see how they perform:I mean physical stress on the tiny rpsma connections at the remote end.

I didn't disassemble with the thought of putting it back together as stock. It looks like: remove bottom nut. Desolder center lead. Un-crimp cable retainer tabs. Loosen hex set screw (see pic). Un screw top N connector piece from bottom N connector bulkhead base.....
Then tell me how to make the right angle fit AND how to re-attach the magnet!!! (Laughs)
Replace original plastic with PVC reducer (bell) perhaps? Then tell me how to make the right angle fit AND how to re-attach the magnet!!! (Laughs)
