Flying from inside house or car anyone?

Alright, a short 3' lmr-240 extension is on order. Should make handling the remote much easier.

I have 5 feet extensions as in picture
However I think you those can cause some signal attenuation , I use the direct connection however I have to be very still not to cause any tension on the receiver . I found this also easy to switch between fixed in home flying and free receiver with the small antenna

@volace

5' of LMR240 is .63dB loss, + 3 connections = about 1.5 dB loss

LMR400 straight to RC..
4 connections = about 1.2 dB loss
Not a great deal of difference in your case. Hard to avoid adapters in some cases.

I being unhappy with my L-Com's factory coax (R-195) decided to "Modify" the base mount connector. I will install N connections so I can lash LMR-400 from amp to antenna. If you've ever wondered what's inside a L-Com mag mount take a look. Currently I already have bulkhead N union, but would need to add a 90 degree N adapter to mate/mount to base. The proper way would be to get 90 degree bulkhead N male to male union. (Can't find one)

Well, I finally got my cable and had to laugh at the absurdity of it all when it was installed.

What I thought was interesting and it may simply be a disadvantage of omni's in my congested environment. I did two test flights: one with the DBS antenna w/3w sunhans and one with the omni's w/rf linx. Distance-wise they flew roughly the same, however the omni's had much more intermittent signal loss during the flight. It was much blurrier/lower quality for most of the flight when at approximately 4000'.

I'll probably have to test in other areas, but right now I'm going to fix my mistake of ordering LMR-400 to the remote. Wow, that's not nearly as flexible as I was expecting and it takes up most of the interior of my small car. haha, whoops!
I like that so much, I am engineering a similar mount-set.

One possible fix is doing this. Won't fix the 400's rigidness, but re-routes the direction it goes in.

Thanks for sharing. I have been wondering how to safely take off the connector without damaging/drilling it off to bits. How did you get yours out? I tried pushing it out from inside ...no luck.

I didn't disassemble with the thought of putting it back together as stock. It looks like: remove bottom nut. Desolder center lead. Un-crimp cable retainer tabs. Loosen hex set screw (see pic). Un screw top N connector piece from bottom N connector bulkhead base.

Totally missed the hex screw!!. Thank you.
