Has anyone from Canada did the transport Canada exam to acquire flying permit before june 1 2019 !?? I've failed it two times so far and let me tell you it's pretty hard to get a 65% passing mark !! several questions deal with aviation which has nothing to do with flying a two pounds quadcopter ! Spent $20 so far and each time you fail it is $10 a shot. There is no way arround since every exams are DIFFERENT !!!!!! Government are crooks..??

Hi
It’s very tough. I am doing and have almost completed a course that cost me $195 from a great company in Toronto AlteX Academy. Worth every penny. I also have not yet passed. I know a guy who has tons of experience and it took him 4 tries to pass. You just gotta learn and keep trying. And yes it is a money grab but it is what it is. So good luck to us all.
Happy Flying.

UK tests.
Has anyone done any of the basics? If so, what is involved? I do not wish to go "professional" and do a full PfCo as it is too expensive but just to be able to fly after November in the Uk one has to pass a "competence proficiency" test before anything else. Where does one acquire this and I also believe that we have to register our drones: but where?

Police are being given yet another opportunity of raising on the spot fines if you infringe any of the overbearing regs so I want to make sure I am not giving them yet another revenue raising excuse.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with most of the new rules and regulations and will adhere to them but to have the police implement the obnoxious and overbearing ones when ordinary constables are not drone pilots then means it is open to petty abuse.

I used practice material and exam from Coastal Drones. I completed the exam and passed with 82%. In addition to info from Coastal Drones I also visited a number of YouTube and Government of Canada websites.

Have a look at Don Joyce (DonDronesOn) YouTube channel at
He has study guides and printed material available.

Also, here are 5 Canadian Government websites with everything you need to know.
1. New Canadian drone ("RPA") regulations: http://www.gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p2/201...
2. Knowledge Requirements for the drone pilots: http://www.tc.gc.ca/en/services/aviat...
3. Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM): http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation...
4. Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR): https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/r...
The Transport Canada Drone Safety site contains additional useful information: https://www.tc.gc.ca/en/services/avia...

Did you do basic or advanced?

I passed the Basic.

Well done. I’m going for the advanced. It’s very tough but. Need to fly closer to people and have no area restrictions unless obviously it’s totally restricted no matter what.
