I've seen a lot of pilots with their device connected to their controller with a cable. Is this helpful?
Also I'm a new pilot and would like any tips if you have any.

........Just to add to that. The Standard and SE use Wi-Fi only and do not use a cable. Only the higher end P3's, P4's etc utilize the cable, these use lightbridge and not wi-fi.....

NOOB here... don't beat me up too bad..

A micro USB to a lightning connector won't control the aircraft? Is the micro on the controller only for charging and updates?

No.

It's only used to charge the remote controller. Firmware updates are installed using DJI GO.
K, I thought I read where a micro usb flash mount and flash cardmicro usb reader.jpg would mount in there to update the file.
