I'm able to connect my iPhone 16 Pro via USB-C to the Phantom 3 Pro's controller and have it recognize, but when I connect the iPad Mini 6th Gen (iPadOS 18.7) to the controller with the same cable, it bonks like it knows it's connected but on the iPad I get a "Not charging" indicator over the battery icon and the DJI Go app doesn't recognize the controller.

Has anyone run into this and found a fix?

Hmm, maybe your cable needs to be changed out for a new one, or the charging port on your Ipad might be broken partially. I've had a very similar issue before (when the phone was plugged in to the remote it made a bling noise but didn't show anything in the dji go app) , and it was fixed by replacing the cable.

I've tried a variety of USB-A to USB-C cables, and just purchased a new USB-A to C adapter to try a standard USB-C to C cable with it, and it doesn't work. I get the "Not charging" message in the top right and it won't connect. I just have to imagine this is an incompatibility with connecting the Phantom 3 controller to USB-C devices using iPad OS, since it works fine with my USB-C iOS phone. That just seems really odd.

Get a USB-A to USB-C cable then strip the outer insulation to access the inner conductors. Find the wire that connects to the +5V terminal on the USB-A end then cut it and insulate both ends of the wire. This should convert it to a Data only cable and keep it from trying to supply charging power to the iPad.

I know Android users have done this to keep their phones from charging from the controller battery (in MavicPilots forum).

Oh, that's interesting! I'm going to try that.

iPad Mini 6th Gen (iPadOS 18.7)

I have 2 of these one is on 18.5 and works the other is on 15.6, maybe the IOS version is causing the issue

What is the iPad OS on the one that is not working?
I am just testing the same issue and have iPad mini 6th gen with older OS 16.3.1 and new iPad mini also 6th gen that came with iOS 26 out of the box.

The one with old iOS works (managed to find cable / usb adapter combination that works) and the one with iOS 26 does not connect at all.
After reading Grok's suggestion
it seems you have to use original Apples USB C to USB A adapter (which I don't have - I have 3rd party one that works with old OS) plus to disable usb restricted mode on iPad plus to force DJI Go to Legacy USB mode.

Hope this helps.

Did you ever get the iPad with IOS 26 to work? If so you had to do all of that, plus cut the +5V wire out?
