Still struggling: firmware update and remote/drone connection

What happens when you do this?

1) Power off your Phantom
2) Connect the remote controller to your mobile device
3) Start DJI GO
4) Tap and hold the menu button (three horizontal lines) at the top, right corner of the home screen for 5 seconds.

That should open a hidden screen and display the current firmware version for your remote controller.

Try resetting the remote controller as described in this thread.

Got a light blue light, then re-started the app. Still not showing anything

Do you see the same "Device Disconnected" message when attempting to display the firmware version via the hidden menu trick on your Samsung tablet?
