Hey guys so I have a 2 day old P4 (Had a p3p and another p4 before). Did the firmware upgrade when I got it with the DJI assistant. When doing the latest upgrade it froze on my PC at 70%. However on the tablet it said upgrade completed. So I didn't think anything of it, since DJI Go showed the correct version in the "about" section. Flew it today and when I was up in the air it shows me a msg of "inconsistent firmware". It let me ignore it. So I did.

Then I notice the drone automatically ascending up at full speed without me touching the sticks. I keep the stick down to bring it back and it comes down slowly, then all of a sudden I see it spiraling downward and unfortunately crashing into a bush. Luckily I was able to retrieve it. Kinda scary seeing it drop (I had line of sight).

Not sure what I can do at this point. It flies, but no video since the camera proly got damaged. Would dji be willing to help me or is it a user error?. Thanks.

Please upload your TXT flight log here and post a link back here.

The "inconsistent firmware" message was telling you the battery firmware needed to be upgraded. I reviewed your log and it shows exactly what you described -- your Phantom ascended automatically. There are no messages in your log to indicate why that occurred. I think you should contact DJI support and see if this is something they will cover under warranty.

msinger, that makes sense since I used another battery from my old phantom which had the current firmware when I did the upgrade.

That being said it's odd even if the battery firmware wasn't up to date the drone would automatically ascend.

In the log can it show the control input?. This way dji will see clearly the drone automatically went up and not a user error. Thanks

Yes -- that's what I was specifically reviewing. Your Phantom was ascending rapidly while both sticks were in the center position.

Thanks msinger. When I click on your log viewer I only see gps satellite, battery info, altitude, speed, etc. Where would I have to go to to see the control inputs?.

Click "Download CSV" above the data table to download all of the converted log data. You can get even more data out of the TXT log if you run it through this app.

Thanks!. I looked at the csv and in the throttle column, when it shows 1024, does that mean the throttle stick is in the neutral position. Just trying to under the log (first time viewing it in a csv).

Yes.

Here are the other stick positions:

Perhaps just my ignorance (and I think I know everything, at least that's what my wife tells me), but what is a "camera proly"?

Never mind. I Googled it (I like to pronounce that "Joogled" just to irritate people). Obviously you meant "probably". I'm getting too old for this new-fangled language. I'll stick to the King's English. ;)
