I may be thinking that the lesson for me is the use the RTH button on the radio and not use the tablet option if I need to RTH.

TBH, I've used the icon to activate RTH - only as a test. I've tried the one on the RC and clearly I didn't keep it depressed long enough to activate. Touch the icon and it kicks in immediately.
