New phantom 4 owner from Vero Beach

Bought a refurbished unit from Newegg that arrived last week. I’m still trying to get familiar with it. I live within 5 miles of the Vero airport and have not flown it so far and have not contacted the ATC to warn or get permission to fly it. The other night on my patio I tried to do a take off and hover to no avail geo lock I presume. There has to be places to fly it other than joining air masters in Sebastian. Any suggestions? Do not have part 107 yet.

What did you see on the screen in DJI GO when you tried to take off?

Any idea what the status message was showing at the upper left?

I tried again and it came up with a warning that I’m flying at my own risk because I was within a warning area but it did take off and hover
