Steve's useless tip for the day: If you grab the Professional .bin file for your P3 Advanced, it ignores it completely. No text file. No update try. Took me a while to realize my mistake. With the right file, the download was fast and easy.

Took mine outside and flew it up to 300ft. Did not calibrate the IMU. No problems! Flying it later this evening getting some pictures of the sunset here in Texas.

Thank you for the heart failure!!! Just got my new P3P this afternoon and immediately updated both AC and CTLR to 1.8. It was over in just a couple of minutes. Verified that the CTLR did not lose link to Phantom and then went in for the 1.9 firmware update. Well DJI if the **** thing is going to go "lights off" on you, make initialization noises 3 or 4 times and then have the gimbal go all "I need Viagra" on me, please mention that somewhere!!!!!!! Only through the reports of people like fakbik here and others on this site, I was able to avoid 10 minutes of panic.

Anybody notice anything different? People keeping the transmitter off whilst the bird is updating?
Okay I seem to be having an issue. Maybe even a big issue. The new update in the bird started like that last one. Making the DDDD beeps. After a bit the lights went out and the camera went limp. Few more minutes sounded like a start up tone. Re booting I guess. Sounding like everyone's normal sequence. until .... Then still l no lights and no longer making the DDDD beeps. still 4 battery lights on Sits there for another 25 minutes but does nothing. Hmmmmmm
Thinking then it must be done. Way longer than anyone else. I turn off battery then restart battery... all I get now if continuous very loud beeps.
Maybe I got a bad download. re downloaded put the fresh bin file back on the card....Still nothing but continuous loud beeps. You would think it would just let you start over.

EDIT; Put v1.1.8 back on Not sure If I really needed to do that but after 15 minutes it was back to normal. So noisy and irritating with the continuous lout beeps I put in on the back patio to do it's thing.
Back to doing the v1.1.9 update and the DDDD. hope the battery holds out. now getting D..DD sounds that its done.

Just got back from a 19 minute flight after using 1.1.9 and everything worked fine. Went out 1000m before getting weak signal (it was through trees and different elevation)
Did a test flight myself of about 10 minutes, 400' up and out about over 1000' or so. No calibration done or IMU messing with. I notice that the compass is very sensitive on my concrete driveway which must have massive amounts of rebar. Started launching from the lawn and hand catching most of the time.
I completed my firmware update. I noticed on the mounting bracket just about the camera a small LED light alternating between green and red color during firmware update. There were several episodes of beeping and lights flashing; however, at the end of the update, the small LED light did not shine either red or green indicating the end of the firmware process. For me, it took 10:37. All is functioning fine. No IMU calibration meeting.
Does anyone have V1.1.8 that I can have or download somewhere? My version 1.1.9 didn't work and I want to put back 1.1.8 and can't find the file anywhere now.

I am getting P3 next couple of days.
My question is do I simply upgrade with the latest firmware 1.1.9 and that will bring the drone and my remote up to date properly?

Did I just brick my p3? During the upgrade, all the lights went out and I got the D___D_D tone... so I turned off, put the card in my pc and it says "Upgrading" no success, no fail, no abort. Put the card back in the p3, power on and I just get a single, very loud BEEEEEEP BEEEEEEEP
Nope. Firmware upgrade didn't finish. Put somewhere you can't hear, and format card and put bin file on card and do firmware upgrade again. Wait 25 or 30 minutes and it should finish. If that doesn't work, put the old firmware on the card and give it 25 minutes. It fixed mine.
Wow. Same thing just happened to me! I did the upgrade. Did not get "success" and tried a 2nd time. When restarted, then, constant beeping as your described. Trying to re-load 1.1.18 constant beeping is going. on.
