Maxx VS Terminator. Long distance antenna shootout!

more questions.. using the MAXXRANGE antenna for the P3P, can I take it on and off without worrying about the wire/screw getting damaged, as long as I take care of it?
I need to fit it in my carry box (its the big one they sell on Amazon, I'm sure it will fit)

also, is the owner of the USA store on here?

Absolutely you can, if it's installed properly there will be no issues at all removing and reattaching for travel. @JakeMaxxUAV is on here. But I will try to help in any way I can.

I use mine as you said attach/remove every time I go somewhere .. Trouble free ;)

I love that terminator panel, three huge cranes directly at my flight path 2 miles out and I'm still able to go uninterrupted at 150 feet off the ground for 9+ Miles

With a 6 mph wind against me today, I didn't hold much hope for a record run, but I thought if I keep low enough and could get to 55,000 before I reach 55%, I would go for 59,000 and try some atti mode in the last 20,000 feet to make up for it. But I hit atti a couple times to test wind direction and it threw me off course with a crosswind! So I decided to play it safe, still had a ton of fun though[emoji41]

sweet!! were those the regular termy's or extreme? P3A?

Reg terminator boosted. I've shared before, I think unboosted would work the same at least in my area, but when I'm that far out I can't afford to lose any signal.
You know I dissected this terminator for everyone's viewing pleasure, and I was told that that might undo all of its fine-tuning!
I'm pretty sure it's doing just fine[emoji41]

Let me know that what is your screen capture app.? It's very clean & good...!

if it did its so minimal you cant notice unless you put it on a analyzer

, once you mess with it , its not exactly the same , still good and better than anything out there , but it will loose the edge , also if you change the cables , that as well will upset things , these are produced with a matching cable set. so you would change the characteristics slightly , normally you would not notice , but I can tell strait away . The next batch are sealed down to keep them in perfect tune , even if you bash them around some , you can not do that to The Maxxrange it will really upset it , we sell them both and the Terminator is bad boy. More like military grade.

Yeah, it's a great antenna, it mines thrown off a little bit I can't tell, I'm still able to fly lower than ever before over building houses and powerlines (w/ LOS)

power lines will not affect the signal , when we build and design these there is a 32 kV power line ( you may see this in our test videos ) we have never ever had a power line mess the signal.
the only real problem is powering up the UAV on the ground near a metal object , this will throw the compass , be ok but after take off it ill throw a wobble and fly to china !!! Some times there may be rebar or metal in the ground . We have lost a perfectly good P3 Pro due to this ....

power lines will give off a magnetic field , this can affect the compass if anything , be we have never seen this happen.

Yeah with all the hype about flying near power lines and causing flyaways, I've never had any problems at all (other than the one time I clipped one on the way down on an emergency autoland because I didn't see it in the dark, that caused a little wobble[emoji41])

yes never had a problem affecting the UAV with power lines , hi power tv masts is a different story , keep away from them .
Just got the collinear system operational, ( 2 x 12 dB phased collinear fed with 2 x 2.5 watt RF amps , and these are fed with low loss coax from the RC controller at the pilot ops room. its great to sit there and fly any direction any distance and watch it on a 40 inch HD tv in front of you with the controller in your hands feeding the system. ill do some images later when i get some time .

I also did another system like this some time ago but it was on UHF , so the pilot was in another building with the control kit and RC control, the system was used in UHF PPM mode so i fed the control signal 500 meters away to the remote UHF transmitter which controlled the UAV , images coming back on a video line fed from 1.3 GHz...

I can't wait to test this out and the be the first one to report an 8 mile flight from my living room[emoji41]

Do you think this will have a shorter range than your other panels because it's not as directional
this will be possible .... it just a matter of power then , you have to quadruple the power to double the distance , so just bigger RF amps ....

a scenario would be a SAR event where this kit is fitted to a large vehicle , then parks up ,deploy the antenna mast and then able to fly in ant direction ...

I'm interested in this!

Hey Ed, where you been?
I figured you're either working like a mad dog, or you crashed your bird[emoji41]

Hey DB. Just been really busy with everything firing on all cylinders. Work, and personal life has me left with little time for flying and testing. My long distance test area is a 45min drive away so that makes it hard to go out there and try for serious distance. Plus if the winds aren't good enough I don't even think about it. I'm still itching to get out there and beat your record :D
