It's great you got it back. I'm kind of new at this myself, but could it be that the battery was getting low and it landed due to that event prior to making it back to the home point?
Curious if it could have been something like that. Wow you must have been in a panic --- been meaning to put my contact info on mine, now I will. Cheers and all the best on future flights.

Late reply to the end result but DJI has since replaced my P3 standard and sent me a P4 as they couldn't find anything showing user error on any file I sent to them. They were very good with.
Off the the P4 section now.
