Incomplete Connection error

P4P 2.0: I launch DJI GO 4, put my phone (android) in the controller, turn on the controller and it starts beeping with an error message that says "Incomplete Connection "make sure the charger is properly connected." My phone nor my controller is hooked up to the charger at this point since I'm all charged up and ready to fly. It has done this several times today, only once starting correctly. Thoughts? Do I need to buy a new cable?

I found a local friend to help. In case anyone sees this error in the future, the system was waiting for a firmware update. Seems strange it didn't prompt to do the update when it started having trouble.
