Well - I read all the moans and groans about the change of maps and yes my Here maps are older than the GE ones I had before .......... BUT they are working fine on my P3S.
Luckily I don't have cloud cover / bad imaging / lack of detail like some show.
But one thing that has bugged me - Why is there not a proper FULL explanation of cacheing the maps in a manual ... even YouTube vids lack parts of the procedure ... DJIKen did a good one ... BUT video starts with Map already displayed !! Not how he got to it ...
So here is how I did it ... no doubt there is a better way.
Switch them all on and get Go App to load to Camera screen. (That's one of the most important bits people forget to mention ... you need ALL 3 UNITS on to get Go to get past opening screen !) My mistake ... CHANGE bl***y WiFi !!
I then selected the MAP screen instead of camera feed.
Android has no Cache maps button in menu - its always ON ...
Changed to Home WiFi and the map screen started to come alive with detail.
I scrolled around area zooming in / out .... made sure I covered more than enough area ... then zoomed out ... scrolled to next flying area I use ... zoomed in ... scrolled around ..... zoomed out and moved to NEXT flying area I use ... scrolled / zoomed ... and then went back to Phantom WiFi ... all the areas I had scrolled round were there ... in both Map, Hybrid and Sat format ...
Excellent.
Now to find out if Here maps (used to be Navteq) are installable from the paid detailed files ....
