Gimbal wheel not working

When you do RC sticks calibration, does it seem to read the position of the gimbal wheel?
Yes,, all calibrations done and good. Even re-installed FW and Go app. Slider to tilt works, just wheel does not. Worked until I updated yesterday.

If DJI GO reads the position of the dial when you do RC sticks calibration, then the hardware is good. Similarly to the OP (@pjakobs), this seems to be a firmware issue, and the fact that it happened to you right after an update reinforces this.
I would open a ticket with DJI. If your P3S is still under warranty, it should be a no brainer for them to replace the RC. If you're not under warranty, I would insist on the fact that it was the latest firmware that caused the problem, firmware that they push us to adopt as soon as it gets out.

I did just that and waiting to hear from DJI. I also noticed I can program C1 (mine is P3P) to the gimbal flip and it works fine so seems the remote is communicating. Would be nice if there was a way to go back to previous version of the app.

Reply from DJI....send it in for repair. Standard response...no comment re the app update being a possible cause. Not worth my time or $ as it is not under warranty. I can fly without the camera wheel and the lack of speech with Litchi (also quit working after app update). Maybe next update will fix.

as @120CCPM mentioned, I have done some repairs to the gimbal but since then bought a 2nd P3s (I keep picking them up to repair, they're so cheap right now and gimbal repairs are easy to do).
I swapped the R/C between the two and the error stays with the R/C, not the aircraft.
Asking dji support, I got the answer that @Jojoned got: send in the whle kit. Well, since I picked this one up for a smidge over 200EUR, that just would not be worth it. I'll keep troubleshooting the issue, though currently, I am somewhat out of ideas. I can't find a way to factory reset the P3s R/C - only ways documented are for the P3p / P3a

I fiddled around with this gimbal wheel issue. Formatted the card, swapped cards and cables, did forced Remote FW update. Nothing changed. Tried Litchi, no luck there either. Then played with the C1 button set to Gimbal Pitch and after several flips, suddenly the wheel was working again and the 'gimbal disconnect' message disappeard. Then....wait for it.......it quit again after a minute or so and could not get it work again. Also found it won't sync my flight logs thru P3P, but it does update those through the Mavic. However, that is another issue as not all flights are synching, just some of the. What gives DJI ????
