P4P+ returned under warranty & camera-gimbal
replaced due to widespread lens diffraction;

RC connected to Internet & signed in, got
"Enter Device" screen, turned on aircraft,
but "Aircraft Disconnected" message stays;
clicked on it, scrolled to bottom to see
"Gimbal Status Disconnected"

Here are links to tablet message & MTS video
showing gimbal start up, including final "look to
the left" with a squeal -- is that normal??:

(sorry, only 20 sec but 50MB, don't know how
to convert MTS to something smaller)

Advice? Need to go back to DJI? Thanks.

Gimbal status disconnected is not your problem, it’s a consequence of the controller not connecting to the device.

First probable cause. Do you have green light on controller when AC and controller are on? If not, try relinking the two first.

Left light on RC stays red.

" try relinking the two first"

How is that done? Thanks.

It was simple to follow. It worked! It flew. THANKS!
(pressing reset for 2 sec had to be tried multiple times before RC went green)

Look at crazy long instructions DJI sent after receiving same question:
     WHY DIDN'T THEY DIRECT ME TO VIDEO IN PREVIOUS POST??!!

"could you please do factory reset settings? You could do this by using DJI Assistant Tool 2.

How to install DJI Assistant Tool 2.
1. Go to our site www.DJI.com
2. Click the drone then click download
3. Click Download

Please be aware that upon doing this, all firmware, settings and controls will be reset to default.
It would be best if you save your files before doing this. After the reset,

please do re-linking using the DJI Go 4 app.

1. Launch DJI Go App > General Settings (…) > RC Settings (Robot Head) > Click “Linking Remote Controller” 2. Locate the linking button on the side of the aircraft. Press the link button to start linking.
The Remote Controller Status Indicator LED will display a solid green once the remote controller is successfully linked to the aircraft.

Then do firmware update using DJI Go 4
1. Install DJI Go 4 on your ISO or Android mobile device
Launch DJI GO 4 and make sure you have a network connection
2. Connect your mobile device to your remote controller and connect the remote to your aircraft
Note: if there are new firmware version available you will see a pop-up prompting you to update.
3. Once the download has finished tap start update.
Note: Update process 5 minutes for the Remote
10 minutes for the Aircraft
4. Once finished a prompt will tell you that the firmware has been successfully updated
Tap complete.
5. When you return to camera view you`ll receive a prompt (Aircraft status) Latest Firmware Version

5. Go to Main Controller settings > Advanced Settings> Sensors> IMU Calibration> Start Calibration.
6. The calibration process will take about 5 minutes. Please wait for the confirmation on DJI Go app.
7. IMU Calibration will fail if the aircraft is not positioned according to the instruction on DJI GO app.
8. If calibration fails, restart the aircraft and calibrate the IMU again.

Compass Calibration
1. Go to the DJI GO app > Camera View > Aircraft Status Bar (top of the screen).
2. Next to "Compass", tap Calibrate.

and Gimbal Calibration if you do not have a Spark.

Because DJI is stupid and has their customer support in china, while most of the product development and marketing is in the US, these are the people who produce the videos

I got mine back from repairs yesterday. Exact same thing. It took me a few mins to remember how to re link it.
