Firmware update problem

I downloaded the latest DJI assistant 2 app to my MacBook Pro, restarted the laptop and it completely locked up on reboot. The only way I could get it to boot up was to reinstall MacOS High Sierra, which what it running before the download, the latest version 10.13.3.
I'm not trying that again! I thought it bricked my MacBook Pro.

Is there another way to update my Phantom 4?

You can also update the firmware from DJI GO like this.
