Is there a way to force a firmware refresh (upgrade) on a unit?

I looked at my hidden files misc/logs
It show 2 components not connected (do not know if this is normal)
Problem is the video does not show on DJI go app

Hi Fortastor - Maybe provide a bit more info on how you have tried to upgrade the P3 firmware would be helpful in trying to help you resolve without having to return it. Are you trying to update via the controller or by the SD card.

Just something in bullet point would be fine.

Shot Answer....
I have tried via controller, and via SD. Neither worked

Here is my guess.... (Long story)
When I got home, as any 40 year old kid does, run and pull the unit out of the box (instructions who needs instructions) See the app I need and downloaded it. Wow that was easy (No video display). Then I see in the app that an update is needed, so I run it (No warning about 1.3.20 first just straight to 1.4.10). My guess is that is what went wrong, I do not know what version it was before.
I feel like the missing devices. Have something to do with the streaming of the video to the controller.

Then I go to the websites look through all different blogs and find the SD way to upgrade. True it it fails, Tried to go back it fails, needless to say it fails.
see my post. Professional - No realtime Video on iPhone or Ipad P3 - Pro | DJI Phantom Forum

basically it says everything works except the Realtime video, and streaming video.

I have tried to do the update via SD and it failed (never gave me the correct beep patterns.)

I offer the following suggestions please follow the order I list them if you care to give it a go - or just take the P3 back.

***Make sure you have your props removed while working on the P3
1) Power off P3
2) Remove SD Card from P3
3) Format SD Card on computer
4) Remove gimble lock if haven't already
5) Insert SD card in P3
6) Connect iPad to R/C
7) Power on R/C
8) Open DJI Go App
9) Format SD card in P3
10) Power off P3
11) Remove battery from P3
12) Close DJI Go App
13) Power off R/C and disconnect USB cable
14) Remove SD Card from P3
15) Download a new copy of firmware Phantom 3 Professional & Advanced - Downloads - Manuals, Software, Drivers download | DJI
Phantom 3 Professional Firmware v1.4.0010
16) Unzip firmware package
17) Copy "P3X_FW_V01.04.0010.bin" to the SD Card
18) Ensuring the P3 is off and battery disconnected - insert SD card into P3
19) Insert battery and power on P3 and only the P3

Shortly you should see the light on the gimble/camera blinking red-green-red while its doing this it makes a beeping sound.
When its complete the light will be on red solid - note the beeping sound will still be heard - takes between 20 and 30 min to complete the process.

20) After the P3 has been updated you can power it off and remove the battery.

While the firmware on the P3 is being updated - this is time to update your iOS device to 9.2, save your flight logs and remove and reinstall the DJI Go App

1) Save your flight logs from the DJI Go App if you want to keep them.
2) Remove the DJI Go App from the iPad
3) Update the iOS device to 9.2
4) After the iOS update is complete - follow the onscreen instructions then reboot the iPad
5) Download the new version of DJI Go App from the App store.
6) Once the new version has downloaded - reboot the iPad again.

Now were ready to test.
1) Connect the iPad to the R/C
2) Turn on the R/C
3) Open the DJI Go App
4) Insert the P3 battery and power on the P3

Yeah, nah those suggestions aren't going to work for this issue. You see, there are dozens of us that are getting the red "no signal" since the 1.4 upgrade killed our birds. This problem is much bigger than what we're reading on the forums now. Every day, it's affecting more and more people and that number will only grow until DJI releases a software fix. In the future I hope they test their software better before releasing the crap that breaks their own product.

I've been running 1.4 firmware since its release - the steps I listed worked for me to correct issues I had with weak R/C when the R/C and the P3 where right next to each other along with issues related to the lag and pixelation of the video feed and not to mention other little strange things like flight log corruption etc....

I don't disagree with you DJI does have its share of QC challenges - I've already replaced a airframe due to a small crack near the #2 motor and replaced #4 motor due to bearing failure, at just a little over 10-hours of flight.

But as bad as it might sound for what you pay (meaning the quad is low cost for what it does/is) and the shear number of units produced I think its to be expected there will be challenges.

The smart device is the one variable DJI does not control - so to some respects they are at the mercy of Apple and other MFG's.

Here's a few screen shots of my P3 connect to DJI Go App and a few others.
FYI "FPV Camera" is very low impact on the smart device resources when compared to the DJI Go APP.

They should test their software better before releasing the junk to the public. Clearly 1.4 has bricked a large percentage of users, regardless of the smart device they are using.

Mine does the same exact thing.

(Thanks for everyone's attempt to help.)

Okay, I returned the unit to Best Buy.... New unit in hand this time I checked the version, I was running Aircraft was 1.1.9 out of the box. So I did an SD upgrade to version 1.3.20 and then upgrade to 1.4.10. My hunch if the Go App does an upgrade directly to 1.4.10 and skips the 1.3.20 upgrade.... (Would have tested, but I did not want to doorstop another unit)

What I have noticed is DJI support is awful, when I did get someone on the phone all they would do is blame the problem on the iPhone 9 IOS, he did not even try to troubleshoot or anything... Also, don't wast your time putting a ticket online, because they never answer. If this problem was an out of box issues, they really have a Quality Control issue.

My suggestions to DJI (Technical) provide a way to back the code down to an older version, this could easily be done by offering a secondary ROM that can be used as the secondary boot OS. They can put a small text config file telling device to boot the second config when needed.

My suggestions to DJI (Customer Service)
You will loose customers if you don't answer, al the very least send them an email says you will call then.

The Fix:

But here is what I did on the new bird.
I am now on:
Go App 2.40
AirCraft: 1.4.10
Controller : 1.4.30
Now everything works. (Thanks for everyone's attempt to help.)

At version 1.1.9 I see real time view of camera....
At version 1.3.20 I see real time view of camera....
At version 1.4.10 I see real time vier of camera....

DJI has had thousands of suggestions from customers, but to date their online and telephone customer service has not improved nor have they been the least bit concerned about losing customers. After all, we are still here and still to continue to put up with the inconsistent customer service and upgrades because there are no competitors with the technology that compares with the P3 has at the price point it can be purchased at. That may change in the near future if some of the competition's technology catches up.

You have the wrong firmware-- there are no firmware downloads for the P3 with these numbers. You should be looking for 1.5.3.
