Afternoon all,

After enjoying my Standard for many years. I have gone to the Dark Side, I received my brand new Mavic 3 Classic yesterday. I have not flown it yet. Just finished updating the FAA Stuff LOL.

After the remote ID requirement started I limited the use of the Standard to my property out in the country and using it to hoist wire antennas up to tree tops for Ham Radio. Where it did a great job. And it still works perfectly. 73 :-)

I was wondering if I should get a remote module for it and sell it or keep it as backup. Probably not worth that much I imagine.

Any ideas or recommendations for a REMOTE Module would ne appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

Cool using for antennas and Ham!!
Got any footage?

Has this been your only Phantom?

The remote module?
Must be related to the ID stuff.

Anyways, you have an original P3S, and the original remote?

In your profile pic, instantly the red stripe

Hey Rod,

I have footage from the drone camera. So its nothing exciting to watch just a tree. :) Below is a picture of my drop mechanism. No moving parts!

I loop a string around one of probes loosely, on bottom of drone. With a weight, usually a small tool of some sort. I fly up the tree to the other side. When I am at the appropriate location I turn the drone 180 degrees. I hold the string on my side of the tree and back the drone up. The string pulls off of the probe and falls to the ground. Usually. Sometimes stuck in tree but a pull or two and it comes down. VOILA!

My only Phantom 3S, yes. I have probably had 5 early drones all the basic yank and bank.

I flew the Mavic 3 this afternoon. WOW! In sport mode this thing is crazy! It will actually bank in a turn.

Have fun.

Bill

I send some stuff via PM later. I failed with a brand new P3A, to retrieve the P3S, I screwed up, testing my ideas, did I distracted?
30 ft' over my gravel driveway instead over my lawn. yep us humans seem to get in a hurry. That P3A was totaled.

Posting a few clips I took with that P3A looking how to retrieve the P3S.
From the ground without binoculars you really couldn't see it.

Some clips from the the P3A.

I will not reply to this thread about my video links, unless it is from the OP.

These are 3 that are fairly inexpensive and lightweight. Most Phantom users mount them to the landing gear.

I use a HolyStone for my Yuneec drones (the others were not available when I made my purchase) and it functions as it should.

Most apps for detecting the broadcast signals only work for a few hundred feet. Those available for iPhone only detect modules that broadcast in Bluetooth like these modules (an iOS restriction).

Thank You! Appreciate it.

ArmyVet, congratulations on your new Mavic 3. It is an amazing aircraft - very stable in the air compared to the P3S which kind of floats around a bit when it hovers. The first time I flew mine I was amazed at the banked turns (coordinated turns) too. I kept my P3S and wasn't flying it much until lately where Light Painting has breathed new life into it. I even purchased a new battery for it a few months ago.

Enjoy your new M3C.

Chris,
Thank you. I live on 3,3 acres so I am flying at home so far. Out in the county. Good place to get the feel of it. Yeah, The banked turns at high speed surprised me. I had it up about 200 feet and could not believe what I was seeing. Sport more may be too fast for me haha.

Have fun!
