Thx- got that. Been hand catching for 2+yrs.

the question is -Do you have to turn off GPS- going to ATTI mode in order to hand catch and not have an issue with the Obstacle avoidance sensors.

No, just come up from a slight side angle and they won't even go off. It doesn't move even if they are set off unless you have enable backwards flight mode on.

You have to keep the craft still, otherwise it thinks its still in air and wont shut down.

That is VERY important. I have scars on my forearm to prove it! Lol!

Make sure when you (or anyone) catches you drone, you grab the upright portion of the landing strut. There are many videos on YouTube showing what happens when someone tries to catch from the bottom horizontal portion and the drone tries to right itself.

grabbing the aircraft is not a good safe idea.
yeah I know lots of people do this but if you make one misteake you will have a trip to the er.

I just land it right in its case. I just need to find a way to get it to close and latch the lid.
