Bricked FC200 Because of Update to Extender ?

I am seeing way to many threads on folks that have done the update only to lose their FPV
as well as to many that have not flown theirs in a while to take it out only to see the same thing .
No FPV
What is the answer ?
I saw the update screen and didn't do it but deleted my app and reinstalled the latest and mine is fine .
Was it a bug in the app or what ?

I always considered the damage to be in the RE rather than the camera. No?

Since I haven't even used my DJI app since last fall, I can't comment first hand, but from what I've read, you're basically doomed. I think one guy was able to fix his RE somehow (I can't remember how), but the technique didn't work for anybody else. The others were forced to purchase new or used REs.

I think I read that DJI eventually fixed the bug? But the bug didn't repair the lost REs. Of course, who is willing to test the fixed bug with a perfectly good RE and risk permanently bricking it? Not me.

I like your solution, Dirk. Just delete and re-install the entire app.

The whole mess is pretty outrageous though.

Is this just on the P2.? Reason I ask, I just installed a Itelite DBS for my P3S on a spare R/C and haven't linked it yet. Thanks.

Thanks for responding Mark . Yea some are like you, gunslinger had the camera just brick on him after putting his up for awhile .
I wonder if maybe he had deleted his app and reinstalled whatever version before he had powered up if that would have saved his
as well as others .If I remember correctly J Dot said the wi fi board burned , might be wrong on that but sure he will chime in on this .
I'm sure many have went to the P3 only to set there P2's down and when they go to fly them again they are going to be hit with this issue .
I know many that did go up to the P3 have stopped reading in this section and are not even aware of this .
As far as I know and I have the Standards also it is not an issue with those captain .

App version ( 1.0.56 ) vision app, was the version with a bug in the extender update, DO NOT USE THIS VERSION!

I have not tested newest versions ( 1.0.58, or 1.0.60 ) but will in the FUTURE!

Next
If you have not flown in a while ( P2v and or P2v+ users only ), you start it up and get this warning ( you must upgrade extender ) DO NOT UPGRADE, repeat DO NOT UPGRADE.
Instead
Shut everything down!
1) delete app from your phone, either use newest app, or revert back ( p2v+ users DO NOT GO PAST 1.0.48 ) as p2v+ was added at this upgrade and is not avail on earlier versions of the app. P2v NON plus users can go all the way back to 1.0.19 first version of app.
Now with new app installed,
Go fly and have fun.

IF YOU UPGRADED EXTENDER, and have NO FPV, due to it:
P2v+ ( mainboard in gimbal is toast )
P2v ( 3rd board is fried )
Either WILL require, replace or repair!

A few of you will experience lost FPV, but simply reverting or upgrading app will cure your problem!

Next if your extender went completely dead ( won't turn on ) , I've found it will loose internal memory, and require you to rebind to fix problem.

I use ( 1.0.48 ) first version to add vision plus. But feel free to experiment.

I wanted to also add fixing the app will not fix FPV if you upgraded the extender through the app.
( most likely gimbal mainboard ( plus models ), or board 3 is fried ( vision non plus models ). Will require repair or replace. The mods are working on a sticky on not to upgrade extender, as not to brick your FPV, in old app version 1.0.56, this version had a serious bug, causing all this CRAP!

@J Dot , Hi my friend, for the moment you can say a prayer that the issue was with moving the tracker and then not doing a compass calibration as Dirk suggested, next time flying will be sunday this week i hope, if i can make it through 4 batteries with no issues then its gonna be a blessing, will post back after then and let you know, take it easy my mate.

I also upgraded my range extender on my Phantom 2 Vision and now everything works except I cannot see the live camera feed. I am likely going to purchase a new Phantom. Let me know if anyone wants to purchase this Phantom 2 Vision that needs TBD repair to fix the live camera feed issue. ([email protected])
