Hi Folks, I have a Phantom 2 with very little flying hours. The gimble has been bent. I believe theres a fix for that? From memory I had to replace a switch on the remote. I since bought a Mavic mini and the Phantom got forgotten about and i left the wiring in a bad way. I have a new battery for it thats never been out of the box. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the remote controller? I'd like to fix it simply to sell it on. Maybe someone has a use for it even as spares. Anyone able to help?

Thanks in advance!

Wow - you've been here longer than me.

It would be helpful if you were more specific. Do you have a straight P2, a P2V, or a P2V+, or maybe even a P2V+v3? Maybe you could provide a photo. I hope your new battery is actually new new and not old new. Also, there are several different remote controllers for the P2 series.

New new?..Old new? I bought a new battery just after buying the P2. Its not been taken out of the box. It could be goosed....it could be OK. I've no idea.

Thanks Mark.,...I'll take pics and post tomorrow!

Mark (I'm Mark too)😉

If it just says Phantom on the box, then it sounds like it's probably a Phantom, later known as a Phantom 1. But they didn't have a gimbal or a camera.

Some photos would help.

If it's a battery for the original phantom, I don't know much about those little guys.

Good luck

Morning Mark

It actually says Phantom 2 on the box. Taken some pics and attached. Note the original battery (not the one still in the unopened box) has all 4 lights on it and I haven't even charged it. I'd have to have a look but i think theres more than one original battery plus the "new" battery. I'm in the middle of clearing my fathers house so kinda busy and everything is in boxes. Still hoping to get a wiring diagram for the controller

You have a straight Phantom 2 which is completely different than a P2 Vision. It operates at a different frequency.

Unfortunately, the straight P2 was not nearly as popular as either of the vision series Phantom 2 drones. That means it's going to be significantly more difficult to find info on it. And DJI has taken down their pages on the P2 series.

The straight P2, IIRC, was introduced by DJI in January, 2014. Personally, I would not spend time trying to get a straight P2 to work correctly in 2025. The chances of being successful are not good for lots of really good reasons. The hours you spend tinkering with it will be significant and frustrating. If it was mine, I might try to sell it for parts (it's not worth much), or give it away, or throw it away. The battery would have some value, if it works.

Good luck

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure you a very much correct the drone is not worth very much and is well outdated in 2025. Still, be nice to get it working and try and get something for it. As you say, spares could be the way to go but that may take up more of my time sorting that out.

A longer flight time could make this drone more attractive. I wonder if thats a possibility 11 years on?

Get it to fly, if that works then you could start thinking whether you want to add a camera and maybe FPV.

The gimbal you have is Zenmuse H3-2D and as the type name suggests, it accepts Gopro Hero 3. But you can also buy a cheap mod to put any action cam with micro-USB there (like Hero 4). Back in the day, I modded mine to use a different brand of cheap action cams with mini USB. It was circa two millimeters larger, so had to shave some aluminum to make it fit.

Then the next thing to add would be video transmission system - originally people used analogue transmitters with this setup.

Double battery mods - yes, people did these. You'd have to search old threads on various forums.

I already have a Mavic mini. not sure I need to add a camera to this.

The gimbal is damaged. It sits at a jaunty angle. I have two Hero 3's😉

I'll have a look at that.
