Best FPV for Phantom 2 with Zenmuse H3-2D

Does anyone have experience pulling the video feed straight out of the GoPro using a cable like this http://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Transmitte ... WRC4X6WPED

Rather then going through the Zenmuse cable?
It's not recommended b/c there's no way to fit iOSD Mini in with that cable, and flying FPV without OSC is just silly.

Why would you not want to go through the gimbal?

I would simply feed it through the video input on the iOSD Mini. Bypassing the fragile DJI ribbon cable.

All parts have arrived!!! Is there a video that shows everything I need to know about this installation? I thought there was a video but now I can't find link to view it.

did you go with a TS353 and PnP cable? If so, it's pretty straightforward...

first, open the shell (16 screws total) there are plenty of youtube videos showing how to do this and you'll have to remove 1 connector, the GPS module attached to the top. remember where it goes.

internal iOSD mount: take the screws out of the leg brackets holding the CAN-BUS connector to the leg. The brackets and screws are not garbage, discard (not the large connector of course). Use the small white connector at the end of the cable to disconnect the larger connector from the cable. pull the cable up inside the body, and re-attach the larger connector. done. iOSD mini plugs in here, and now it's all up inside the body. Many people put the iOSD in "front" of the battery in the shell.

FPV: your Phantom should have come with a multicolor ribbon cable taped to the belly. trace that cable back to where it plugs into the mainboard, and remove it. Now attach your PnP cable in it's place (only 1 connector fits). From there, it's obvious where the rest of the PnP cable goes... one little connector fits into the small port on the iOSD mini, and the final 2 connectors are power & signal to your transmitter.
*note you may not attach the FPV things in that exact order, but now you know where everything goes so you can plan which parts to pull through the leg holes leaving only the transmitter connectors sticking out the bottom

that's pretty much it. don't forget to re-attach the GPS module before you re-attach the top of the body and screw everything back down. As a matter of fact, with everything attached and the top off you should be able to power on and check the FPV is working properly. The Phantom LEDs will only blink rapid yellow because GPS isn't attached, no worries just test FPV then re-assemble.

Here is a step by step guide for a clean install: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ido6peKTKKo

I used the same video for my install. Went very smoothly. He is using a different transmitter, but the instructions are exactly the same.

Thank you,

Also does anyone know where I can buy replacement tools? specifically the wrench to remove props? I can't find my little bag of tools anywhere and it's driving me crazy. I know as soon as I buy a replacement tool kit I will find the originals.

I've never actually used that thing. I just pinch the motor with my fingers to stabilize it while unscrewing the prop.

Yeah, I have done the same thing but one prop is really stuck. I'll have to take some spinach!

you can use a pair of needle nose pliers, just don't grab the motor pin exceptionally hard.. use barely as much pressure as you need to release the rotor

Use an ND filter to slow down the shutter speed. The lines are from prop shadows.

Do you have a Hero 3? Any suggestions?
I had a 3, now a 3+. But the 3, 3+, and 4 models have the same dimensions.

One option is the PolarPro: http://smile.amazon.com/Polar-Pro-Neutr ... s=polarpro

But I prefer these as they're lighter (weight and balance are important for the gimbal to function properly): http://www.snakeriverprototyping.com/bl ... er-filters

I just saw these in a video. The ND4 would be the filter to purchase if I was only going to buy one, right?

Depends on the conditions. If you normally fly in bright, sunny light with minimal cloud coverage, I'd suggest the ND8. If you fly in the earl-late morning or evening when there is less light, the ND4 should be fine.

I have a live video feed!

Looks like it's working. Not sure if I made a bonehead decision or not but noticed in the video that this guy left the plastic wrapped around the TS353 and I removed it????

Also need to find my two sided sticky pad to secure everything up.

Manufacturer says that both ways it is ok. More proteccion with the heat sink wrapping but coolest without it. If you have removed it, so I did without problems after more than 100 flights, try to bring up the double sided tape by the sides of the Tx to make a better and solid grip.

doesn't really matter
