Working my way up the distance

I have never gotten more than about 2200 feet horizontal under near perfect conditions (miles from any interference, clean line of sight, 300 - 400 foot altitude). I was right next to a pretty tall mountain and so felt safe to go straight up 500 meters (1600 feet) and was loosing signal with the bird directly above me. I don't know how you guys get 5000 feet plus using the same P3 as me. Makes me think something is wrong with mine.

Thanks fellas -- I am going to try again and see what happens. Antennas were in an upward V pattern. If I am stuck at a 1/2 mile it isn't the end of the world. Next time I will keep pushing past the first video glitch. It still showed 4 bars but I did get the video warning briefly and I immediately spun her around...
