Why don't aftermarket cables work?

I have looked for P3 Standard ribbon cables on Amazon and even bought an after market and original manufacturer cable. The rumor about after market cables not working at all is true. What I'm trying to figure out is, why would this be? It's just wires inside a plastic casing. What would make the DJI original cables work and the after market cables not work? Did DJI put something into the cable to ensure that only their cables would work?

Thanks. I ask because the replacement on Amazon is now $60 instead of $31 (one year ago), and I need a replacement.

$60 is getting up there,phew,found little bit of info that might help answer,,mayby a spacing issue or coating on cable and something down bottom about impedance ,,(big word for satuday)

I wonder if you are buying charging cables instead of data cables.
