When people ask how much your drone cost, what do you say?

Re: When people ask how much your drone cost, what do you sa

I normally ask them if they would like the true cost or what the wife "thinks" it cost.

I then normally start to cry when I realise just how much i've spent so far

I have learnt the art of staring at people blankly for a few seconds and reply "quite a bit".

I got a lot of questions when I took my RC car out for a spin. I got a lot of dirty looks when I didn't seem to care that I'd just trashed it into something at 40mph+. I think I'd cry if I trashed my phantom. There is something about it that makes it seem worth more. The RC car is worth a fair chunk more money but it just seems funny battering the hell out of it.

I think the difference comes from teh fact if you smash the car on a track, you can always pick up the bits. With a quadcopter thats not always possible.

A guy crashed his copter on top of a castle ruin not far from where i live. They ended up mounting a rescue mission involving another quad, a grapling hook, some line, and a blanket. The second quad flew the grapling up to the top of the castle and dropped it on the downed quad. So that someone on the ground could pull it down and a team of people caught it in a blanket.

Mine sank to the bottom of a river so no hope of recovering it :(

Re: When people ask how much your drone cost, what do you sa

I say from $1,200 to infinity

I tell them that it costs a lot to buy and a lot more when it crashes!!

I tell them I'm not sure. My personal shopper knows what I like and it shows up for me. Never bothered asking about the price.

Get asked that lots and i say "too bloody much" followed by a few laughs [emoji106] only the guys who ask this, women tend to be more interested lol

I tell the the truth, $ 550.00. Then when they go WOW I will ask them what they do for a hobby
Golf, Hunting, Dirt track racing perhaps. How much does it cost for those 25 visits to the casino each year?
Perhaps they bought low profile SAVINI rims and tires to put on their Car $2500 TO $3000 HINT HINT
or maybe just maybe they have a 70 HD LED flat screen with a PS4 and gaming headphones and a custom wireless controller. But as for me, I have a $550 dollar DJI Phantom 3S and a few other UAVs

I've always said about the same as a set of golf clubs, as thats a pretty equivalent value and they also range wildly in price.

If they ask specifics I say ten pounds a week :)

Amazing how everyone is trying to justify the cost why not the truth.
I also get asked and when they see my equipment I tell them the full price of my Phantom the extra batteries the case the camera filters etc.
WHY HIDE THE TRUTH!. They walk away and say WOW FANTASTIC! THAT'S NOT A TOY!

When people ask, I normally say that these are top of the range and very expensive and follow up with " strange you should ask as this is for sale, a lot cheaper than you could buy from any where @just under £1,000" they tend to move on very quickly, especially if the wife/ girlfriend is in tow[emoji12]

Why hide the truth? As he said, he "profiled" some. I take that to mean they looked like the type who wanted to see if it was worth stealing.

I might change my answers depending on who is asking too.
