What would you do?

with the thoughts of going straight up, the manual says its better not to do so - that an angle is better for signal reception. thoughts?

Just to clarify about take off. When taking off I am not directly underneath the aircraft. As I stated earlier, before I take off look straight up to make sure the bird won't hit any branches on the way up.

If you are new to flying, I'd practice in a field first. My yard isn't as bad as yours but pretty close. I had a Parrot Bebop originally. Hit the trees a few times when first going out. It's hard to judge how close the branches are especially when are you have to use the ipad to see when you are going.
