I’ve just bought a DJI 4 drone after crashing my old one, I am using the original controller the problem is when I command RTH the drone goes up to 120mtrs. The setting for avoiding trees is set at 40mtrs.
How can I change this?

Welcome to the forum!

"The setting for avoiding trees is set at 40mtrs."
Where do see this setting at?

"when I command RTH the drone goes up to 120mtrs."
How do you know it goes up to120mtrs?

Rod ..

Hi I use my mobile phone, the 40mtr setting is to clear the trees beside my garden and the 120mtrs is the maximum height setting. Someone suggested it might be something to do with the drone code? not sure he meant on that one.
The drone is a replacement for my original one it is “linked” ok

Not sure why it's overriding your 40m RTH setting but could the 40 meters be showing up as 120 feet on screen? If not, try clearing the cache or even delete then reinstall GO 4 then afterwards set a new RTH height in settings. If you find the solution let us know, could help others.

It has nothing to do with the drone code.
Before deleting or reinstalling anything, the best way to find out the reason the drone is ascending further than you expect, post your flight data for someone to investigate.
The explanation will be in there somewhere.

To post your flight data there are a couple of options ...

1. Go to DJI Flight Log Viewer | Phantom Help
Follow the instructions there to upload your flight record from your phone or tablet.
That will give you a detailed report on the flight data.
Come back and post a link to the report it provides and someone might be able to analyse it and give you an understanding of the cause of the incident.
or
2. Just post the .txt file here
or
3. If you use Airdata, you can view the flight data on Airdata and post a link for the Airdata report

I have tried everything suggested and the drone still climbs to 120mtrs, which is maximum height setting the only way to bring it down is to ignore RTH and fly it home manually.
There must be a reason for this, the controller is my prisoner and the. Drone is a replacement which has the
Ok, thanks I’ll let you know.
I have now tried everything suggested with settings nothing seems to work I have set the RTH high at 30mtrs and the max height to 100 mtrs.
I then fly for 5 mins away from the take off point press RTH and it climbs up to 100mtrs and stay there, probably until the battery goes flat.
No idea where to go from here.
