We used to take pictures via camera and long pole for our company scouting. We own a weather company and install 10 meter poles and up top have our hardware. For our new scouting we tested a P2, stock gimbal and GP3 for full 360 shots. The group and everyone LOVED them. The only negative is no altitude and direction facing.

So I am looking at the Garmin Virb which has some great features but don't see a real way to mount it. I am also looking at the DJI ground station (http://www.dji.com/product/ipad-ground-station) but not sure if that will work. It seems to show altitude but not sure on direction and will that follow into the video?

So I am looking at the P3 with some interesting live features, as well as what can I do cheaper with my P1 and P2 I already own that can give me those 2 things.

Thanks guys, looking forward to more questions and more fun!

What you have not mentioned is whether have FPV (first person view) with on screen display w/telemetry.

As you are recording with a GoPro there will be no on screen display..
Another option... records with a GoPro as you normally do and also record using an FPV screen unit.
This will record the video feed from the GoPro but with an on screen display (IOSD mini), showing the direction and altitude etc.
