It is interesting to see the different ways to calibrate the compass.
I personally use the method Colin Guinn shows here, as this was the way I learned from the beginning:

but see that a lot of people do the body spin method like this:

I think both are equally effective, but I saw that this guy does the 2nd part differently (by rotating along the copter's arm axis like a ferris wheel) which seems odd. I guess it works since that's how he's been doing it:
