When taking pictures from the recorded video, they will be closer to JPG quality. That also means you won't have as much data as a RAW photo if you're used to editing RAW photos in a photo editor. Give it a shot and you can compare the difference.
Extracting frames from video gives a lower quality result than shooting dedicated stills.
The maximum resolution you can get on video is: 2704 x1520 = 4.1MP
The maximum resolution shooting stills: 4000×3000 = 12MP
