Switch to ATTI with Compass Error?

The early on compass errors I got from launching from my driveway (rebar) were accompanied with the compass warning and the bird switching to P-Atti Mode.

I landed the bird in that mode, but was wondering if it makes a difference to manually switch to Atti Mode when the error hits. That is to say, would there be any more control. Anybody find that to be the case?

This happens to me all the time...often without a home point being recorded...it's terrifying and usually there is too much wind for me to do much but pray and order new motors ( over sand beats over water)
