Strange sound from gimbal

I just switched out my yaw arm and ribbon cable. The gimble worked and the camera aligned itself when I tilt drone with my hand. I initiated a gimble auto calibration and it started making this crazy sound and now it wont stop. I can turn the drone off and on, but this noise keeps coming. It sounds like it is in pain.
Also, I get "No image transmission" to my controller. This has been the case ever since I replaced my severed ribbon cable with a cheap new one. I heard I should have went with a dji-original and that that is the fix for that, probably.

Do you have any idea of the cause of the noise and how to fix it and do you agree that the image transmission is likely to be fixed with a new cable? 71 euros with shipping...

See a video of the drones noise here: 20170705_164946.mp4

Up on top of the yaw arm is a 2mm hex that tightens into a yaw motor shaft. Tighten that screw and the noise will go away.

And yes, buy the original dji cable. You don't have any video most likely because the cable is a 3rd party and it doesn't work.

Thanks Hunch! The sound is gone now. I wish there was a way to test if my camera works at all before buying a cable for 71 euros. Can you think of a way to test it? I looks intact, but it fell from 80 m and got ripped off from the gimble.

is the fan on the case of the gimbal black or beige color?
the reason i am asking is that if it is black (1st revision of P3P gimbals) it's a chance that the main board burned out and if it is beige (2nd revision of gimbals) it may be still
ok.
i had better luck with the ones with beige fan on the case.
and where are you buying cables from for $71 euros?
i can send you one from US to Europe (where are you located) for less then that.

The fan on top of the gimbal is black and the fan does not move when I turn the drone on. I have tried to fly with the drone and everything seems to work but the image transmission.
I bought the cable from the dji-store. Wanted to be sure. Already ordered it now :) Thanks anyway!

I have now replaced the cheap ribbon cable with a one from DJI. Unfortunately, there still is no image transfer... :( The camera does seem to work as it registers changes in light. I guess there is something wrong with the motherboard (or what to call it). Any ideas on what to do next? Can I have done some stupid rookie mistake? In the video, you can see the DJI Go displaying that the camera and the information transfer from the drone to the controller is not dead. 20170712_174026.mp4

I am currently updating the firmware to get that log-file you mentioned. Everything was going fine (I think), but at around 12 minutes into the update - the drone started making this sound (listen to the video) and has been going on like that for an additional 15 minutes. Not sure if I should turn it off. 20170713_194355.mp4

I turned it off and this is what the logs look like. Im not sure what to make of it. Does it tell you anything? It got kind of hot and the small black fan on top is not spinning (as someone asked me to check earlier).

I'm not surprised it got hot. @hunch (a well known drone repair expert) has posted on the forum dozens of times that the gimbal fan on a P3P is under powered and anyone updating FW on a P3P should have a small house fan blowing on the P3P during the update process. Here is one of many examples. Don't feel bad though, most people still don't do it from what I can tell.

Your LOG_AB files shows device not detected for the two modules I suspected and also mentioned in that other post. This has been often noted here on the forum as one of the more common indications that your main gimbal board is bad (video chip bad or FW corrupted). Every now and then it could be the OFDM module.

The gimbal board is not sold by DJI. Since it has proven to be a weak link on the P3P, the boards are also often hard to find. It seems we have at least one person per week here looking for one of the boards to fix their no image transmission issue. If I were you, I'd try to find one used from a reputable source here in the forum such as @hunch or @Ted4797 or even send it to one of them if you are not inclined to tackle a repair yourself. Just something to consider during your decision making process. Good luck!

Thank you so much. It sucks that the board is broken, but at least I now know. I will reach out to those guys/girls and see if they can help me out.
