If you run your finger over the edges, there is a little material that can be removed that is from the molding process. I use an exacto knife blade to scrape it off. It is a very minor amount of material. Air flow is air flow. If you can remove disturbance, it is a plus. If it made a difference on noise level, don't know. My ears are not tuned that well.
